Just Evanjellyon for me. Maybe hearing the film in English will clear some stuff up for me. I wonder if it'll come with a nice little artbook.

Some screenshots from the new Record of Lodoss War BD set released in Japan have been posted over at Mania with comparisons to the DVD. It's like night and day.

I really hope this gets a release outside of Japan by someone.

Since I'm importing, you can practically bet that it will get a US release!
OMG, those sample shots are amazing!

Wonder if Lily C.A.T. will have subs. The file I have for it was straight dual-audio.

Why would it not? Discotek isn't S'More, who'd release subtitles on a separate PDF file...

Wow, are you serious?

Like in the old days, where you'd get a VHS dupe of the Japanese LaserDisc with a printout of the translated script to read along as you watched?

[Show spoiler](Fansubs have sure come a long way, haven't they? )

S'More couldn't be bothered to do the subtitle timing themselves?

From what I've heard this was never released subbed before, only in dubbed and original Japanese. So someone would have to be hired to do a translation for it. That's why the pirates also have no subs in their releases. Even if they didn't want to take the time to OCR/typeset it would be a snap to rip the PGS subs to mux in.

US and UK releases updated. I don't think I missed anything but if I did let me know. I'll try to get to the Japanese list tomorrow. Been a little out of it lately. Sorry about the lack of updates.

Inu Yasha ran from 2000 to 2004 so I'm 99.95% positive it was only produced in standard definition.

I'm totally committed to buying the Japanese Blu-ray release of Noir in February, although I am kind of bummed that it has an English Dub but no English subs - Having it dubbed is awesome, but being that it is one of my all-time favorite anime, I would have really liked the option of watching it in Japanese with subs as well...

And, a lot of times I like to listen to the dub AND read the subs at the same time, especially if they are very different. I've been viewing almost all my Netflix streaming anime this way - it's like watching two different shows at once, lol!

I bought the set and it does look amazing! No subs or dubs on it though, which wasn't a huge put-off for me, as I know mostly all the dialog anyway.
But don't worry, since I've invested $300 in the set, I can guarantee that a US release announcement is right around the corner!

Discotek have done subs for previously unsubbed releases before. I don't believe Locke the Superman was ever subbed, and they subbed it for their DVD release. Many of their TV series releases, like Harlock and Mazinger Z and Cutie Honey, are subbed in-house as well. They don't just release stuff that has already been in english before.

Will be getting Eva 3.33, Kamisama Kiss, Fruits Basket and maybe DBZ in February. I really should check out Fairy Tail and Jormungand, too.

Does anyone think Noir might get eventually licensed for an American Blu-ray set with English subs? It seems unusual to leave English subs off the Japanese release, unless you are leaving a little bit of space in the market for an eventual American release.

Well, I was wondering that as well, but who knows... I'm not going to wait around - another year or two and I may not be into anime anymore, lol...
