I was going by a review of the film which said it Schoolgirl Hitchhikers was CUT.

Isn't it illegal to release a film that is different to the version previously classified by the BBFC?

I’m assuming Screenbound resubmitted, and the cuts were waived? The BBFC site is unreliable and doesn’t always update info on new decisions etc.
Or they just didn’t bother to submit it again and chanced it uncut (which is technically illegal).
As media gets more and more digitised and hard to regulate (just browse Amazon Prime and you’ll see a lot of unregulated stuff), the BBFC are getting more and more obsolete, so they’re not going to send the swat team for a niche euro horror Blu Ray that’ll probably only be seen by a few hundred people.

When it comes to animation, the bleakness of The Plague Dogs is perhaps only matched by Grave of the Fireflies and Barefoot Gen. It's a terrific film though, and I would rate it slightly higher than Watership Down.

Screenbound have it available on Amazon Prime to rent but the running time listed is that of the cut version - 85 minutes. I don't really think there's any point in buying that cut, hopefully they include the 103 minute cut on the Blu-Ray release which was available on the previous UK Optimum DVD and is on the Shout Factory Region A-locked Blu-Ray. I see the Blu-Ray running time listed is 103 minutes, which is promising.

The cover art for Fanny Hill (1983) has popped up on Amazon:

Anyway, Screenbound's product listing claims the film will include it's trailer and something called "Memories of a Film of Pleasure" which I assume is a new featurette, since the previous DVDs seem to have no extras.

I had no idea this was severely cut in the US for an R rating (IMDb says by 18 minutes for an 80-minute run time, though a US DVD apparently runs about 90 minutes), but I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. I think I might have been let down by Amazon listing it as a 15, which would have meant that the R rating was accurate. I'm glad to find out that the film is hotter than I expected, always a good thing.

When they announced it on Facebook they said they were only releasing the edit until myself and others were up arms! Thankfully they listened and said they had contacted Martin Rosen and would be releasing the director's cut...

Only found out in the Blue Underground thread today. This got submitted to the BBFC in March by Screenbound & was again (was submitted in 2002 by rejected

Copied the reason for the film being rejected, from the BU thread:

This work was rejected

LOVE CAMP 7 is a US film, from 1969, in which female agents are sent undercover into a Nazi prison camp where female prisoners are sexually abused, raped and tortured by soldiers. It was previously refused a classification for DVD release in 2002. The present submission is for distribution on VOD.

The BBFC's Classification Guidelines state that "We may refuse to classify content which makes rape or other non-consensual sexually violent behaviour look appealing or acceptable, reinforces the suggestion that victims enjoy such behaviour, or invites viewer complicity in such behaviour". They also state that "As a last resort, the BBFC may refuse to classify a work, in line with the objective of preventing non-trivial harm risks to potential viewers and, through their behaviour, to society. We may do so, for example, where a central concept of the work is unacceptable, such as a sustained focus on sexual rape, other non-consensual sexually violent behaviour or sadistic violence."

[quote/]Because LOVE CAMP 7 is largely comprised of scenes of non consensual sexual activity, including rape, presented in a manner that is intended to arouse viewers, its central concept is unacceptable and the sexually abusive material it contains too pervasive for cuts to be an effective solution.

Accordingly, the BBFC has refused classification to this work.

It's a good piece of camp sleaze & the film that started the Nazisploitation craze of the 70s. It is available on BD from Blue Underground. Pic below is from Vinegar Syndrome's site.

Screenbound are going to be releasing Pandora and the Flying Dutchman in November: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pandora-Fly.../dp/B09BF1HHGX

Presumably this is the new restoration Cohen released last year in the US, but no idea if they'll add The Living Idol as a bonus or not. Shame a label like Eureka, BFI or Indicator didn't get it as I'm sure they could've done quite a special edition (though we've yet to hear what Screenbound are adding, to be fair).

Thanks for the tip off.

I haven't seen it since it's cinema release and I was on the fence about it. But I can't resist that cast and am eager to give it another viewing.
