Netflix also said that some of their customers would not even notice the difference, which can be read in a number of ways like that being because their customers are not that demanding to begin with maybe?

Very good, no. The women are tough but feminine in these parts. No coats in winter when they are out in pubs for example. We are tough in the North East of England!

Netflix To Limit Streaming Quality For European Subscribers To Preserve Bandwidth During Coronavirus Crisis

Netflix will limit the streaming quality of its content for the next 30 days for users in Europe to relax the strain on communications networks as increasing numbers rely on internet connections in coronavirus lockdown.

“We estimate that this will reduce Netflix traffic on European networks by around 25% while also ensuring a good quality service for our members,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement. The announcement follows calls earlier today from the European Union for streaming providers to be mindful of clogging networks and affecting the reliability of internet services.

At present the restrictions on quality apply only to European users; Netflix did not comment on this change applying to users in other territories, including the U.S.

Try to remain calm and take reasonable precautions; panic can be more dangerous than the pandemic itself.

The 1918 pandemic killed at least 50 million and 675,000 of those were in the U.S., according to the CDC. Humanity got through it and people back then were also dealing with the fourth year of a World War at the same time.

Hey Vilya thanks for thinking about me, but Wendell's charts show average Streaming below 5Mbps so Netflix should not have to change anything here in The States. I'm above the average and Stream HD so all I need to average is 20Mbps.

Netflix IS doing something; they are reducing their bitrates in order to reduce their traffic on European networks by 25%. That only happens because Netflix is very much "changing" something.

This is happening in Europe, so unless you have moved there without telling us, it wouldn't affect you, anyways. It also has nothing to do with your internet speed.

I found that out when I cancelled my movie subscription some time ago, although I still have the sports package. There's no reason I can think of for not allowing cancellations online.

The ball is in my court for sure. I only really care about my football team and it will be at least a year at this rate before we are even in the championship. I could cancel for a year at least.
I could just tell them I’m getting Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+ for less than £25. They either accept my £35per month or I cancel. I currently pay £60.

Sky are losing their grip. Their monopoly can’t last as there are too many alternatives now. Don’t get me wrong, 4K sport is very cool and Sky Q is quality, but is it THAT good to justify price rises?

Even more annoyingly, some people just use a box and get every film channel, sport channel etc.. for nothing. People who are honest and stay above the law get punished.

Analyst: Service stacking on rise

More than half of all SVoD users who subscribe to three or more services will purchase additional services this year, according to analyst company Futuresource’s recent Living with Digital consumer research report.

“We’re seeing continued momentum behind SVoD service uptake, with consumer appeal strengthening and sustained adoption of Netflix and Amazon Prime,” advises David Sidebottom, Principal Analyst at Futuresource Consulting. “This is being bolstered by a wider trend for multiple SVoD services, also known as service stacking, which is becoming commonplace across many countries worldwide. In the USA, more than 80 per cent of SVoD households are stacking at least two services.”
