Great documentary. I loved her music and to me her death was the biggest loss of its kind since Jeff Buckley. Both massively talented musicians at the start of their careers who died after making albums which were instant classics. How much great music was lost with them ?
The Father probably wasn't that I will give you, but that other thing was for sure.

It's no one's fault really in the end, her body just gave in. At least she seemed to have some sort of happiness before it happened, no matter how short lived it was.

I know I saw that recently as well, VERY disappointing and quite shocking as well.

Finally got around to watching this with few expectations and I will say it far surpassed those expectations. All I knew about Amy was her most popular songs, her addictions, and her death and all I knew of "Amy" was that it didn't live up to my dad's expectations (I was introduced to her music through my dad.)

This is a wonderful, non-sugar-coated and not overtly biased view into who she was as a person. I knew her story was sad going in but the film didn't tug on heartstrings and instead put forth her story as it is. It was interesting for me watching "Amy" to now associate her lyrics I know well with their contextual inspirations from her life, putting some into a new perspective. Amy was an incredibly talented lyricist and this film did a great job of highlighting all the important aspects of her personality.

This was a pretty decent documentary .
Thought she was a horrendous lyricist and musician so I looked at it as the story of a junkie rather than the story of some celebrity singer.
The doc. is pretty intriguing and sad even though I wish they would not have played so much of her horrible "music" .
Sad that such a naturally beautiful woman had to make herself so ugly on the outside and inside . Probably would have been a decent musician too if she fronted a rock band instead of whatever the hell kind of pop/jazz/noise she did
3.25/5

Cranking out Amy's "Back To Black" while reading your post. Needless to say I couldn't disagree more with your assessment of her talents.
