The DVD coming soon trailers didn't come along until around 2007/8 I think, after all the stories of Season 12, bar Revenge of the Cybermen, were released, and even then Revenge was paired up in a box set with Silver Nemesis. Although obviously Ark had a Special Edition, so that had a DVD trailer.

Lee Binding has already planned the artwork for the next 4 sets, so even though nothing has formally been commissioned it still seems there are immediate plans going forward with this range.

I can't help but think one of those 4 sets might be a McCoy season, possibly 26, and I'm going to take a hunch and say that is where Doctor Forever will end up. Considering that edition of Doctor Forever covers the Virgin New Adventures it would only makes sense to put it with McCoy.

Ah, so there has been no hints to what any of the 4 sets could be?

Must say I'm really looking forward to this set more than a lot of Blu releases. I actually think it's the whole rebranding with the logo and almost soft reboot of the show has really breathed new life into something I loved.

There have been a few rumours suggesting Seasons 19, 18 and 10 are among the next few to be released, but it's bouncing back and forth between whether it's Season 18 or 10 that are actually next. Initially it seemed 10 could be next, but then another rumour came along claiming that 18 had replaced 10.

Only Season 19 is the most consistent rumour at this point, but Season 19 would especially be the most beneficial for Blu-ray, because all the original location film inserts still exists as camera negatives, so you could present them as true HD, rather than just upscales. The next best one for surviving film is probably Season 21.
And luckily almost every Season from 3-22 (when they stopped using film for location footage) has at least one story with surviving film footage, even if in some cases it's only a few minutes.

And I couldn't agree more about the re-branding and reboot, I don't think I've been this excited about the show in about 10 years. It really does feel like a new beginning.

Assuming the makers of the new extras shot multiple items on the same day for logistical reasons, then the presence of Louise Jameson, Janet Fielding, and Sarah Sutton on the extras for Season 12 might be a big hint.

Louise implies they have shot extras for Season 14 and/or 15, Sarah and Janet would suggest extras for Season 18, 19, or 20 are likely to have been made.

The range will presumably want to jump around between Doctors (not smart to put all of Tom's best years out first!), so my prediction for the next four sets would be;

Season 19
Season 15
Season 10
Season 26

Although Pertwee's early stories have many technical restoration challenges, there's no problem with Season 10, plus it has Daleks, the Delgado Master, Troughton and Hartnell guest-starring, as well as one of the all-time nostalgia classics for general viewers, The Green Death.

Edit: Ha, I see the rumours posted above have some correlation to my guess! Of my selection, Seasons 19 and 10 would be the ones I'm surest of, they seem to be the glaringly obvious choices.

My predication is:
Season 19
Season 10
Season 26
Season 22

I think it's important that every colour Doctor gets their due on Blu-ray, before circling back round to Tom, possibly with Season 15 or 16.

Yeah that's a fair approach but personally I wouldn't include both a McCoy and a Colin Baker set in the next four. There's no doubt that those later season sets are going to be the weakest sellers, and it might help to get the range off to a solid start by having just a little bias towards Tom early on.

I agree too early a release for Colin Baker could be the kiss of death for this range. They need to stick to what sells well.

So it makes sense to go back to Tom Baker after Davison, McCoy and possibly Pertwee. Also Tom Baker has far and away the most series to release so makes sense to have him more frequently.

I read elsewhere the Restoration Team said a maximum 4 of these a year, so one every 3 months is okay with me. Also stretching over the next 5 years gives time to improve restoration techniques on the problematic Pertwee stories and we may even see another b/w return.

Certainly not both Colin and Sylv taking 2 of the 4 first spots (that would be madness). But I could see S26 coming in as the 4th-ish release perhaps. Two of the four stories are way overdue for improved picture quality, as they were last released about a decade and a half ago.

With only two C. Baker seasons, they certainly don't need to jump in and start releasing either of them early on. S23 was released pretty late in the DVD range and has solid picture quality (this is also the case for McCoy's first season. And both are seriously unpopular). When they get around to S22, they will at least be able to include some HD filmed segments, hopefully, and better restorations on a few. I'm not a huge 6th Doctor fan, but I'll look forward to picking up 22 much more than the following two seasons.

S25 may actually have better sales than we might expect. For whatever reason, a lot of people are gaga about the extended Silver Nemesis edition, which they could try to include in some form.

I am also really looking forward to the BD sets and my interest in the show has been rekindled. I've been watching old episodes on Twitch and it really is fun reading the comments when watching them:

All of the new episodes are on iPlayer and I plan to binge watch them all before the new series. I stopped watching during Matt Smith's second season.

"London 1965!"

Has anyone mentioned if the 40th Anniversary trailer (with Orbital's version of the theme) will be included anywhere?

If they re-release the movie with true HD. They must include the 40th Anniversary trailer or on the re-released Series 1 set (If we get to them, of course).

I'd love it if they also did the new series eventually. Would be cool to have some new candid extras like the classics. The new series is in desperate need of commentaries!!

It would never be true HD but the Restoration Team would do a far far better job of upscaling it.

Yeah, amazon too. Perhaps they discovered some bugs in the mastering process. I think this is their first time with a branching blu-ray disc, could be related to that?

It's too bad it's late, but better than getting it wrong and hoping for (possibly not getting) replacement discs.

Of course, it's totally possible that it's simply a manufacturing delay, unrelated to disc content.

I think it's just it was a US-oriented release so US gets it first, then UK, then the Aussie region. Not anything with mastering.

Yeah another delay is rubbish. On the bright side I was able to see Genesis of the Daleks in Imax Monday, (which was brilliant as it was right in line with my series rerun) and the PQ was pretty amazing compared to Britbox. Hopefully that means this whole set will be just as good or better.

Great. So what does that mean now?

Meanwhile US customers are already getting their US sets in-hand.

I'm starting to wonder if I should switch over to the US set since I'm in the US. I'd prefer the 50Hz discs since I can play both formats.

While there's still no availability on Amazon UK, I've just checked Zavvi and HMV and they have the option to pre-order. Not sure why it's disappeared off Amazon and not any others though.
