Trainspotting (Paramount 2021 release, uncut, remastered)

Yesterday I was strolling around at a local multimedia retailer here in Belgium and stumbled upon a new Benelux blu-ray release of Trainspotting by Paramount / Miramax. Considering that we're still waiting for the *definitive* version of this film (uncut and with good AV quality) and that it was pretty cheap, I bought myself a copy. And while I was expecting it to be different from the previous Universal release, I definitely did not see this coming: this new disc, authored on October 21, 2021 according to files on the disc, seems to have been sourced from a new master, at least PQ wise, and is in my opinion the best the film has ever looked on blu-ray. I've owned the Japanese and the Euro Universal blu-rays and this is on another level ; it's also a step above the US release, judging from the screenshots I've seen of that one (improved framing - more picture on the left and bottom sides, better compression and grain structure, saturation (cf. red window in first picture) etc.).

Available audio tracks are DTS-HD MA English and French 5.1, Italian and Spanish 2.0, with optional French, Spanish or Dutch subtitles. Disc is region free (although no region code is mentionned on the case or disc because, yeah, who cares, right ? ).

I ordered it from iMusic. About $20 USD shipped with Postnord. Gonna take a while to ship (first from the supplier to iMusic, and then to the buyer), but it's cheap.

An alternative to the Dutch edition is the Italian one, available to ship internationaly from Amazon.it ( https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B09...PNWYJU7H&psc=1 ) and very likely to be identical. I simulated an order to the US and it amounts to 25 EUR/USD w/ shipping. You can use the translation tool in Google Chrome for instance if you're uncertain of where to click, it works quite well...

The new German disc is a direct port of the old Universal release, so avoid it if you're looking for the new one (which doesn't have German on it at all).

I'll be ordering the Spanish edition. Shame there are no extras or English subtitles.

It's also available in Italy and Spain (in a 2 for 20€ sale, no less). It's the same disc, so just grab it from there.
