Apollo 13
Alive
The Great Escape
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Team America: World Police

I hope to be set for a while

Oh, and fro those who can't tell, they are sorted as main titles first, then sets, then series, then TV, all sorted by year.
Very nice. It's neat and uniform. I see you have an Academy Award winning set too. Why not put Forrest Gump, Braveheart and Rocky in that collection too?

Well, I'll tell you. Mainly because I only have the newest 5 Adademy winners on blu-ray in order, then it skips to 95/94 with Forrest Gump and Braveheart, then skips again to 76 with Rocky. Right now my Academy titles are in order with the 5 Blus first (Slumdog to Million Dollar Baby), then my DVDs start. I f I did blu covers for those older three, they would be stuck in the middle of a bunch of DVDs, which would look dumb. So, for the time being they will stick with my Blu-Series until I can find a neater place to have all my Academy Winning Blus.

Default Inglorious Bastards

This is an early view of my first attempt at a cover. It is obviously still a work in progress, but I'm looking for suggestions on the placement of "Inglorious Basterds" on the cover and ideas for the spine color. Let me know what you think guys.

I'd probably lower it just a bit and I'd keep the spin either the same color as the front or the back.

Thanks guys. I've been playing with it for a little while and I think you are right. It looks much better lowered, especially with a line about Tarantino added below it.

Updated version of my first cover attempt. I borrowed the text from Blu-ray.com's information section. What do you guys think?

Looks better.

I think it would look better if the Tarantino text was removed completely. Puts to much text at the bottom of the cover. But thats just me.

Ok here is my second try at a custom cover. Still not sure what to put on the bottom part of the back. Any ideas?

wondering if someone would be willing to make a complete cover for the incredible hulk??

i found one in the archived thread but it didn't have the info on the back.

i'd like to see a complete cover w/this picture minus the specs on the bottom:

thanks to anyone that is willing to give it a try.

Default First timer.

Just wanted to say that . . . wow, yeah just wow.

I never new that people did this before until I stumbled on to the custom cover scene by accident, then it was like a slap in the face why not. Now I don't have to live with bad cover art that doesn't agree with me. You guys are a godsend.

Now I would love to do this stuff, but I am just a colorist and I'm still learning Photoshop and the rest of creative suite. That doesn't mean I didn't try a little but I don't think I am there just yet.

So I was wondering If I share what I've done if someone can help me finish them, I was hoping to unify my collection with a certain look, like a trade dress for all of them but keep the originality of each cover. Also I am a big fan of original poster art and wonder why sometimes "why the hell didn't the company use that one". Granted sometimes someone will put out a cover that is better than the poster art but that is truly rare. Unless they pull something out by Struzman than it's all good.

Here's what I got so far.

Okay, not sure if this stuff is going to show up right, but this is my first post.

What I want to go for is a unified spine, where the blu-ray symbol is on the bottom of the spine horizontally instead of vertically, at the top of the spine the company logo who put out the film and then obviously the name in the middle. I would like the color of the spine to be black, the name doesn't have to be white it could actually be the movies logo. The backs could be the original backs it doesn't matter, I like having all the info on the back, its the front that is important to me. I'm not sure how I want it, right now I have it where the Poster art is the front cover and it does look nice but then I was reminded of the Nightmare on elm street dvd box set and how they had the original poster art centered and surrounded by thick black trim and any writing, like the name of the movie would be in the black not obstructing the art work. It looks nice but I don't want the art work to be to small either, and for some reason I want a blu-ray symbol at the bottom of the cover that would be the only extra text on the cover, besides the title ( and if it says directors cut or something ) trying to minimilize the clutter on the front where I want the art work to speak for itself. Poster art is an art form, and I am tired of the crappy cover art. ( especially the 90's early 2000's cast photo poster's, talk about lazy marketing campaign ).

Now if any one can help me out that would be great, at some point I would love to do my whole collection.

Again wow, you guys rock

and if anyone helps I truly appreciate it, I only have so much time in the day with two kids and a sick wife. Later.

Yeah, sorry about that, I didn't realize that it posted originally until I posted the good one, which is why i went back and deleted the message.

And thanks, I am very fond of that poster art for Superman, it is sad to say the only reason I haven't gotten superman on Blu is because I hate that cover art.

Looks pretty good (Im a non cover designer though) Just looking at it though the Spine text seems cramped (Too wide) for the spine. Thats just how I see it though. Keep up the good work!

I agree, I am one who likes the spine to look need. So when the title is too crammed onto it or too large, it bothers me. But that's just my thought.
