Warner snatched up the Southeast Asian rights to the Jackie Chan films New Line had rights to in the US years ago. This was a strike to prevent grey market cross importing.

When Warner HK, Taiwan, South Korea, and Thailand took over distribution they also released the same versions as what New Line offered. Again, to stop cross importing by JC fans.

The upside is that the original Cantonese tracks are on them but the downside are these tracks are cut to fit the shorter running times and no English subtitles.

Amazingly, Warner Southeast Asia also got Drunken Master II's rights and Warner's version is shorter than the US' Dimension cut. But again original Cantonese without English subtitles.

Rumble In The Bronx is the VERY rare exception to the "I want the original subtitled over the dubbed version" rule. The American release of Rumble was my first major exposure to Jackie Chan. For nostalgic purposes alone, Rumble is a day one. Maybe I'll grab First Strike as well if my wallet is feeling friendly that day. Maybe Dragon Dynasty can feel generous and release a blu ray of their awesome Supercop special edition. Keep, the Chan, COMING!

Dragon Dynasty does not exist anymore while Supercop fell from Echo Bridge to Lionsgate.

I have the HK disc, despite it being an upscale, for the uncut version and extras. Echo Bridge released Supercop on it's own with a Michelle Yeoh interview but cropped to 1.78 with stereo surround English sound.

Aw hell yes! Never owned the DVD of Rumble so I'll definitely be getting in on this! Rumble has some of the best outtakes in a Chan film.

Absolutely. I still crack up at the "What the hell do you think you're doing"?! line. It sounds so absurd to they was his expression is.

Dragon Dynasty's logo shows up on the Netflix releases of a couple of their HK titles, along crappy PAL speedup that shortens the movie.

Yes! I love First Strike. So glad we're getting more Jackie Chan on blu. I'll grab Rumble in the Bronx too.

Now we need Who Am I, Gorgeous and Mr. Nice Guy next. Especially Who Am I.

I know but the niche label has folded, in the UK... Cine-Asia made a deal to distribute Dragon Dynasty titles there. Of course, Cine-Asia also closed up shop.

The only real distributors left in the US with the passion to properly present Asian cinema are Well Go and Criterion. Arrow holds this distinction in the UK and it looks like their US arm will continue to hold their reputation.

As much as I want to get these, I won't unless they are the uncut, HK versions. I don't think they are but it would be nice if the discs included both versions. I have my dvd`s and I am ok with them. I would assume, at this point, that the extras will probably be what were on the dvd`s. Will have to wait and see until some more info is released.

Jackie Chan HD fans really don't have it easy, do they?

I have the UK release of RitB, and it's quite solid, once you decrease the brightness by 7-9 notches.
I am happy with it, but it's still far from ideal.

Gah, it's Warner so it won't be but I'd get both day one if they had the HK cuts. If not I've already got the UK RITB but I might get First Strike if its cheap like the budgie.

I'm mad for Jackie Chan right now. I watched The Myth yesterday and thought it was pretty freaking good bar the 3rd act. Tonight I'm cracking on with New Police Story, Little Big Soldier, Shinjuku Incident and Chinese Zodiac. I've only seen CZ before so its a good nights entertainment.

Its an absolute travesty how his films have been handled. If I one the lottery I'd try my flinging flanging best to do them justice.

Good to see these getting a HD release, already have UK Rumble in the Bronx which is an ok transfer if as mentioned too bright.
I am probably in the minority that i prefer the US cut of First Strike, the HK cut is a bit of a mess with the end scene for example going on far too long.
Frustrating thing is with Blu ray there is more than enough room for both versions but that will never happen.

Very strange HK movies is so hard to get correct. Dvd didn't seem that hard with labels such as HKL (Hong Kong Legends). We got good uncut versions with extras. But now on blu? nada nothing....

Definitely agree -- the glue factory sequence in particular is a hoot in the best Chan tradition.

This is one of those sad cases where I'll just stick with the old uncut LDs (which look like a solid VHS at best). Just don't really like the US cuts or dubs of these movies.
