Finally watched Tenet.

Now I want to make an inverter so I can go back and skip it.

Such as, Robert got carried away and was implying Panasonic players were delivering dynamic meta data with their HDR optimization. He really did there for awhile.

Examples of DV being different then it should.

Another example of 820/9000 playback to compare

But go ahead and compare, for some the 9000 works well for all situations, but its not true in all instances. But because the Oppo is no longer sold, only maintained, what choices do you have as alternatives except the 9000 now.
With my projector setup, DV is not a thing, but HDR is. Then you add a lens into the equation with its “Boost” in brightness, and HDR can be a bit too much at times, so wanted more control over that.

I never engaged Robert in the decision process, and having managed a commission environment for about 15 years, I can see through most of the strategies and tactics, but at the same time appreciate when someone is good at it. Side note, my wife will never step foot into a car dealership with me when buying a car, because I play that game very well.

There are enough reviews and comments landing on either side of the fence between the two players, so it isn’t too difficult to find some leaning the Oppo way. I have also learned to not agonize about such a decision, as I could second guess with every review I find. Ultimately, I get to see what they do side by side (actually on top of each other) to see where I will land.

Either way, still a damn fun way to spend an afternoon.

I seriously think Nolan is the most polarizing big name director.

I would Redbox it.

Which is what I did.

Take pre-emtive headache medicine.

It was actually very well done. No denying that.

If you should ever decide to rip your video disc to a media server then you would probably miss the Oppo. One of these days I hope to do this, just got to get myself motivated and start. I do have all my music and some music BD's on a server (Synology).

I think we need to go back to things more like Tom Cruise's Minority Report, Oblivion, and Edge of Tomorrow with Science Fiction at the box office. Nolan is a master of presentation but not as story teller. I think his Inception and Interstellar were great.

I saw that as a difference as well when comparing, but I don’t foresee me ripping discs to a server in the near future. That may change down the road, but not something that is a deal breaker at the moment.

No Trailers are in SD, Vudu HDX has BD PQ!

Does not matter, if the title is a P&S of 1.85, 2.0 or 2.35 content. Several titles that I had in widescreen on DVD turned out to be P&S on Vudu so I stopped bothering with DVD2HD. There was a time where Vudu would allow one to see the first 2 minutes of a title. That option appears to be no more.

That is a oxymoron, for past, present and foreseeable future. Only a clueless person like yourself would make such a statement. Newer HD and UHD content with OAR on Vudu, Disney+ and even some on Amazon is very watchable for the most part. When we do see shortcomings we just say “its streaming” and continue on. That is not to imply the content itself is perfect on disc or streaming because it is not. That subject is way beyond the scope of a post.

Click here to see the HDD collection Stacey Spears has used to create just one UHD BD test disc. Read the thread where he talks about the difficulty getting content on disc without artifacts. And that is using > 90 Mbps.

Default Logitech Harmony

Any Logitech Harmony users here. If so, you may want to check out this article. I only have a Harmony Hub that is used with Alexa so if it stopped working it would not be a big loss. Use URC remotes for all other remote uses.

I just use separate remotes, you tend to be more active reaching for more then one.

Vudu HDX streams at about 5-7 Mbps (audio/video bitrate) on average with 9 Mbps being their maximum audio/video bitrate and that is nowhere near to a blu-ray disc which often averages around 30 Mbps (audio/video bitrate) with a maximum audio/video bitrate of 48 Mbps (40 Mbps maximum for video alone).

"BD Video movies have a maximum data transfer rate of 54 Mbit/s, a maximum AV bitrate of 48 Mbit/s (for both audio and video data), and a maximum video bit rate of 40 Mbit/s."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray#Bit_rate

Mbit/s = Mbps

I use just two remotes most of the time: one for the AVR and one for the Oppo 203. Pretty simple and no programming involved.

Having multiple remotes intimidates people, they usually go whoa fancy setup.

The ones out are similar to yours bhampton.
