You did piqued my interest in another sub talking to Ultraman so, I may do that but probably not.

These are some good speakers though. Now if Andrew Jones made some speakers in the 5 to 1500 dollar range, I would be VEERRRYYYY tempted to hear what they had to offer and that could sway my decision or at least how they would sound anyway.

Sorry for rambling on.
These Pio speakers were an upgrade from a HTiB speaker system also
Before replacing these Andrew J. speakers IMO, I think a better upgrade would be a good sub because these speakers deserve it and will sound so much better - like you replaced them at the same time!

I also have and will be adding more sound treatments with a mild absorption rating for these soon in their location. Its all in the treatments! The more you do, the better it gets.

Brian...
What other speakers are you using and do you have a subwoofer?

I was just watching some scenes for M.J.'s This is it and The Amazing Spider-Man, and I think I might need to get a 10 or 12 inch sub(even though I'm leaning more towards 2 10's....maybe).
I need that low end for movies and there is this one LFE sound that ALL sci-fi/action films have and now games are starting to use it.
I love that sound and I need to FEEL it as much as hear it.
When I was running my Pio speakers with the Bic F12 sub I had my crossover set at 80Hz and it sounded ok but after getting my SB13-Ultra I used SVS's Merlin tool to see where it recommended setting my crossover and it came back w/ 120Hz (my receiver only has 80, 100 & 150 HZ settings) so I set my crossover at 100 Hz. The sound is so much better at 100 Hz than it was at 80. Also, I have read the crossover should be set 30 Hz higher than the speakers cutoff frequency for proper sub integration.

ML, IMO - 2 SVS SB1000 or PB1000 subs would get you those LFE you seek/desire

So what are owners doing to get the BS speakers up off the ground?
Are you using stands, shelves, mounting to wall (if so please post how and which mounts) or are you hanging them like me

Hyg, I have a set of Fluance AV towers, MTM's. Love them but may go to the FS52's. Sub, custom 1.25cu ft. sealed 10". I've heard Mr. Jones speak before explaining the TAD designs at a audio show, super nice and brilliant engineer.

Ultraman,
Thanks, I had to do the right click and open in new tab to see them.

Did you make the stands for your BS speakers, looks good. I made a couple for mine when I first got them but they were very crude and I ended up needing to get them higher because of my grandsons need to touch everything in sight.

Nice, the specs look like a good match for the BS speakers and thanks for sharing! How low does your custom sub dig, have you ever measured it?

Hyghwayman, Thanks for posting the pics sir.

Ultraman, Nice set up and stands. Did you make those from the htc forum on how to make you stands because they look just like the ones in that forum.
Well at least I know I'm no the only one who needs wire management. Maybe we can help each other out.

Hyghwayman, The 2 pb or sb-1000 isn't a bad option. I've read the reviews and I have read nothing but good things about them. Although, some said that it wasn't a pounding in your chest type of sub but it has everything that I want which is clean, deep, no boomy sound and little to no distortion in my sub.
Congrats on winning that sub and it looks beautiful w/ those A.J. Pioneers.
Cool looking home theater you have and definitely a creative way to hang your speakers.

NP ML,
I am lucky to own my own home and can punch holes wherever I wish within reason(I'm married and she wares the pants). Before I remembered someone mentioning the macrame plant hangers I had figured I would either run the wires under the carpet or up the wall and across the ceiling. Instead, 5 holes in the wall/ceiling and a trip through the attic.

Thank you for the kind words here and on my gallery page MuvieLovers. I feel very blessed and so lucky every time I sit down to watch a movie, listen to music or play my favorite game because that SVS sub is truly magical in the way it reproduces LFE & ULF. With proper sub placement, room treatments and high db levels you can enjoy the chest pounding effect you desire. Where are you all setting your LFE crossover at 60 Hz, 80 Hz, 100 Hz, 120 Hz, 150 Hz? I ask this because the difference in my room between 80 and 100 Hz is huge. I have mine at 100 Hz and notice better blending between my sub and mains.

The lack of pounding chest with subs IMO is due more to sub placement and room acoustics than the sub itself (dips & nulls). The PB & SB1000's are spec'ed to dig as deep as my SB13-U and I get plenty of good shake in my room but not a lot of chest pounding/punch. That is something I will be addressing in the future.

That thread was a very interesting read. I have had my sub off for the last few days and I turned it back on yesterday and it doesn't sound bad.
Maybe the "feeling it in my chest" analogy wasn't the best definition.
After reading that reading material, I went over to the svs forum(on this site) and man, I definitely need to get me a better sub...for sure.
I think I need to invest in sound treatments and bass traps.
Oh yeah, I'll be adding my pics to the site soon.

:

Welcome to forum and it is DEFINITELY an UPGRADE from a HtiB. Trust me, unless you like the sound of some other speaker lines which is cool also.
I don't think you will be disappointed though.
What did you get? 2 floorstanders, 2 bookshelves, and center?, or 4 bookshelves and center, or all 5 bookshelf speakers???

Alright here is my humle HT.
I hope that everyone will enjoy and please, if you have any tips or idea's, I'm more than happy to hear(*read*) them.
I know I need some wire management amongst other things but this is a work in progress.

Alright, I know this isn't the best location for my sub but after reading the very informative thread from Big Daddy(subwoofer riser), raising the sub off of the floor actually sounds great. It doesn't bring attention to itself nor is it boomy, just filling. Now, I can't wait to get the svs subs.

Forgot this shot......
