Germany 'Fedora' (Billy Wilder) 17th July 2014

'Fedora' has been announced for release on 17/07/2014. Here's the Amazon.de link:

http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00K...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Another Billy Wilder film can be crossed off my wants list.

The French Carlotta release has forced French subtitles with the English soundtrack - hopefully this won't be an issue with the German release.

I hope this one is in the correct aspect ratio.

Why - was that a problem with the French release?

Bruce, I remember reading that the French release had the wrong aspect ratio so I removed it from my "Wish List" on Amazon.Fr. But a search doesn't reveal the article or review so I definitely could be wrong. Forced subtitles aren't a deal breaker for me so I must have read something or I would have pre-ordered. Goes to show memory cannot be trusted. Now I sound like a character from a Philip K. Dick novel!

I've been waiting for the German release, hoping that subtitles won't be forced, though on some occasions they have been even for German releases. There are still ways around it if that's the case.

This companion piece to Wilder's Sunset Boulevard is an interesting film which I haven't seen in a long time, because it was never released on DVD to my knowledge. Shame that Wilder never got his first choice cast of Marlene Dietrich and Faye Dunaway. Hildegard Knef and Marthe Keller are fine, but for a film about stardom it would have nice to have two legendary stars in the leads.

The distributor's website says the German sub-titles are removable.

The only DVD release has been a non-anamorphic version from Spain.

Hey Alex,

How exactly are you searching the site?

We've had the French release reviewed since March. And not only is there nothing wrong with the aspect ratio, but Bavaria Media/CinePostproduction's recent 2K restoration of the film is simply gorgeous.

If you are not seeing all results when you search, you need to go to your personal settings on the site and click on all flags so that you can see reviews, product listings, pre-orders, etc. from all over the world. Your settings are here:

Does Fedora have some dialogue spoken which is not Enlgish. It's decades since I last saw the film and I can't remember. But imdb states language as English, French, Greek?

Thanks Pro-B! For some reason it always defaults to US and I sometimes forget to pick the All Countries setting. Will definitely change that now!!

Good to know it's in the OAR but I'll wait to see if this new German disc forces subtitles. I can't wait to add this to my collection as I've never seen it.

It's an English language film and was shot with English dialogue. There's no non-English dialogue other than a few words spoken by a few minor characters.
