Default AppleTV+

Apple’s streaming service will launch in the autum in over 100 countries.

Only brief details on some shows but they look like quality stuff.

I’m hoping See (the Jason Momoa adventure series) is suitable for family viewing. Not enough live action adventure shows like out at the moment.

Vizio, Sony, LG, Roku and Fire TV getting a upcoming redesigned TV app confirmed.

(New) Apple TV App

FYI, the Apple TV (4th Generation) is now the Apple TV HD, and the Apple TV 4K is the Apple TV 4K. This is apparently to differentiate between the Apple TV app now that it's coming to smart TVs, Rokus, and Fire TV.

So it sounds like I will be able to watch Hulu and CBS all access directly in the new Apple TV app without having to open their own apps?

Not all LG TVs will get it, but should your LG OLED have it, yes.

Expect it (probably) on at least the following LG models:

LG OLED (2019)Announced
LG NanoCell SM9X series (2019)Announced
LG NanoCell SM8X series (2019)Announced
LG UHD UM7X series (2019)Announced

SOURCE (AirPlay 2 enabled TVs)

Currently, users with an Apple TV box are forwarded from the TV app to the respective Hulu and CBS All Access apps, but once the new TV app is launched in May, that'll change, at least on the Apple TV box. Whether or not that'll be the case on smart TVs, I don't know.

I'm curious how that'll work. If one subscribes to HBO, Starz, Showtime, or Epix, and watches a film OnDemand, will you be watching the same source as those watching an iTunes purchased/rental version? Would that mean those with Apple TV 4K boxes will be watching these films in 4K (where available)?

So it sounds like I will have to cancel my current subscription with Hulu and CBS All Access from them directly and resubscribe to them with Apple TV to be able to watch them directly on the new Apple TV app. Hopefully the prices don't change. Meaning $11.99 a month for commercial free Hulu and $9.99 a month for commercial free CBS All Access.

I would guess probably not. Amazon Prime and Spectrum cable are part of the TV app also.

FYI, I mentioned Hulu because you did. A look at the list of partners for Apple TV Channels does not list Hulu. CBS All Access however is listed.

Actually Hulu is listed on the Apple website under that link on the top of this page. It's showing next to Amazon Prime Video and ESPN +. So it looks like Hulu will be available on the new Apple TV app.

That show’s gonna get a lot of crap for not hiring blind actors.

I don't think you can buy Hulu through TV Apple Channels though? Good news that it works with services not associated with Apple TV Channels though.

No I think you will be able to buy Hulu through Apple TV. It's all going to be streamlined.

What makes you think there isn't any blind actors or actresses?

Don't count on it. You'll be able to use it from the TV app (along with Prime and some cable/satellite providers stuff), but as of now it's not on the slate for Channels.

What is the difference? You will be able to still watch Hulu within the new TV app. That is the main thing.

I'm very happy it has three sci-fi/fantasy shows and an M. Night Shaymalan (did I spell it right?) show from the start. As long as subscription is monthly I'm in - I assume it will since Music and News+ are.

Plus 100+ countries at launch. Glad they sorted that for the official announcement.

Family Share was mentioned. Does this mean we can let others use the subscription?

I’m waiting for Apple to give iTunes Family Share users the ability to decide what titles get shared or blocked from view. Seems like a sensible option to me.

It was stated a few times that AppleTV+ plus content would be downloadable.

Did they mean every show and movie on the service or just the Apple Originals?

The difference is that you won't need to cancel your Hulu account and then resubscribe to Hulu.

If you want to re-subscribe to CBS through Channels, that's fine.

If you use Apple's Family Sharing with people, they will have access to AppleTV+ through your subscription, yes.

There is no knowledge of Apple TV+ content that isn't Apple Original programming at this time. I'm assuming surely there will be, but until more is known, that's simply speculation.

It seems like content from Apple TV Channels, and possibly more will be downloadable though, so the answer is probably yes.
