AnimEigo - Megazone 23 OVA planned for Kickstarter

Dear Backers,

Just a quick update to let you know how things are progressing.

Last week we received the actual replication check discs. We've tested them and they seem to be fine, but we've also sent them out to our Patron Inspector backers for final QC. X-fingers!

Yesterday, we got the chipboard box mockup for the premium set for a fit test. This was delayed a bit because the first version had an accidental sizing error.

Now that the box has been finalized, we just have to tweak the box artwork to fit the final dimensions. Everything should be approved for actual production next week. As soon as we know when we'll actually be receiving everything, we'll let you know (and send out the usual "check your mailing address" emails).

Finally, all the Mikimoto paintings and other character goods have been manufactured and are now enroute from China to the USA.
Now on the proverbial slow boat...

This project continues the proud AnimEigo Kickstarter tradition of doing something because it sounds cool and ridiculously underestimating the logistical complexity of the task. Natsumi has threatened to inflict grievous bodily harm on Robert if he does this again, which he probably will.

Next Project

We've got several in the works, and we just got some good news about one of them. It'll probably be a couple of months before we can finalize things, but it's looking promising. Stay tuned!

God please let the original, uncut 3-episode Dangaioh OVA be their next release (or a release being planned by them at all!)!

Dangaioh would be great but I believe the 3rd movie they lost the original negative so it's just an upscale. Would rather see Iczer 1 box set the 3 separate OVA with the full length movie and all the extras. I mean why not all the work has been done already.

Although, as you say, the Kickstarter was US only, us folks from the UK can buy it from the AnimEigo web store (I probably will at some point soon).

If one of the episodes is an upscale then I hope Discotek gets it and then just let Justin work his AstroRes magic.

Also nothing against Robert but I prefer Discotek's single color subtitles over the new Lucky Charms subs that are now the new standard for Animeigo releases.

Looking at how much it’s going to cost me right now I’m gonna wait. Looks like Bubblegum Crisis came out later as a standard Blu-ray and an it’s available from certain sellers in the uk at a reasonable price.

Would love the chipboard cover but it’s gonna cost too much with delivery and import duties/vat on top

Yes, I forgot to mention the price .
I’ve got (I think) all of the AnimEigo Kickstarters in a least the Premium versions, so I’d be looking at laying out $120 on this one, which certainly isn’t cheap. They’ve all been very good so far though, so what’s a fan gonna do?

I could be wrong, but don’t believe vat/import duties affect these, as they re-ship from within the UK, unless that’s changed recently?

This has changed unfortunately, thanks to brexit.

Shipping is flat-rate. If you subsequently add-on additional sets or goodies, there is no additional shipping charge. If we are able to ship internationally, we will use fulfillment warehouses in Canada / UK / EU to minimize customs fees for backers in those territories.

I got the riding bean set, love it. I really wanna get it so may just take the risk.

I’ve ordered the set. Did it through PayPal and it took VAT aswell so hopefully don’t get charged again. Cost me £110 in total I feel a bit sick

Yes, that's the current plan. It's a complete nightmare, but we're trying to make things as easy as possible for UK customers.

Eh, Animeigo has done the Lucky Charms subs for as long as I can remember, so it's nothing that bugs me now.

AnimEigo's Lucky Charms subtitles can be difficult to read on their older DVD releases, but have improved on their blu-ray releases.
