I liked Light of the Jedi more too, but still think Into the Dark was awesome. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, so I'll refrain from saying too much, but I absolutely have to say Geode is such a great character.

I'm interested to hear what you think when you've finished.

I'm really loving the High Republic so far. In my opinion, the old Expanded Universe novels were very hit-or-miss. A few of the new canon novels are a little dry too, but so far everything in the High Republic has been excellent. I think they really went all out on this.

Finished Light of the Jedi yesterday. It was just ok. The Jedi were all pretty one dimensional and not interesting.

Finished “Into the Dark”. The book picked up dramatically after the half way point but imo that first half was rough to get through. Not a huge fan of the Derngir either. Overall I’d give it a 3/5. My least fav Claudia Gray novel I’ve read. The biggest plus to me was Reath Silas. Thought he was a great character and excited to read more about him in “Out of the Shadows.”

Picked up Into the Dark yesterday. I wasn’t planning on getting it, but I was at B&N looking for another book that they didn’t have. Saw Into the Dark and figured for $14 why not. Looks to be a pretty quick read.

Finished listening to ITD yesterday, and I have to agree with the consensus here, its definitely not as good as LOJ or ATOC. If anything, it plays out like a filler side story unless the Derngir end up coming back, which I doubt.

The only thing it really does is establish Reeth and Affie who seem to be major characters in "Out of the Shadows" based on the cover. Hopefully this means more Geode too, as he was the best character in the whole book.

Imo he is the best character in the High republic so far.
