I hope this recent classification in Australia is for an actual Blu Ray boxset release and not some re-release of the DVD series with some new extras thrown in like a bonus disc. I say this because on the description page it states:
:
X FILES SEASON 1-9 BD BOX SET VAM(DVD)

I know BD in the description title probably stands for Blu Ray Disc but still why does it say DVD at the end a mistake maybe?

Anyway provided this really is going to come out first in Australia an early December release is quite soon so we should be hearing an official announcement any week now surely.

I don't mind waiting months after Australia for the UK release of the series on Blu Ray I just want a confirmation this is officially happening.

Question

I'm still a bit sceptical the Blu Ray boxset is coming out no retailer online has it up for pre-order as far as I know and it's supposedly due (at least in Australia) as early as December but the recent classification of supposedly new extras looks promising hopefully Fox will make a big announcement about the release soon and put our doubts to rest.

If retailers are aware it is coming, there may be an embargo as to when they can begin to take preorders, especially since an official announcement has not been made anywhere. Hopefully an announcement is coming soon!!

October 13th would be a good date for an announcement

The pre-order is up for Canada. $279.99 for the set. Individual seasons to come on the same date. December 8, 2015.

I pre-ordered season one for $39.07. That's £19.35. Postage is £7.91 so it well under the £15 limit. I will wait for specs, but if it's region free I'll dip my toe in! If it's 4:3 I'll be very happy, but knowing my luck the box set will be dual aspect-ratios and the cheap separate sets will be 16:9.

Damn, that's a stupidly low price. Not gonna order anything until 4:3 or lack thereof is confirmed though.

Nice find! I'm pretty excited about this release now as it really seems to be happening It looks like Fox are planning a simultaneous worldwide launch of the Blu Rays what do you think? With the Canadian and Australian release due early December fingers crossed for a launch around the sametime in the U.S. and UK too.

This is not a big deal but I'm hoping the blu rays are stored in amary cases rather than cardboard digipacks as they tend to get damaged easily.

Awesome news It'll be a joy to this again in full HD glory especially as the DVD's looked so poor, I'm pre-ordering this ASAP when Amazon UK have it up.

So that's about £140 (approx. £15 per season) A good starting price, hopefully the UK pre-order will start about the same price or cheaper.

With this and the Complete That 70s Show set, it's going to be an expensive couple of months!

I may be missing something but how is £19 + nearly £8 under the £15 limit?

I've preordered from Amazon Canada but hopefully there will be a UK listing at some point.
One would hope the complete series set will have some additional content not available on the individual seasons.

£19 minus £8 = £11

Postage normally doesn't count towards the £15 threshold.

Depends if the retailer is accurate on his declaration.

If an item is under £15 then you're ok.
But if an item + postage comes to more than £15 customs will include the postage charge in their calculation so your fee will include a percentage of the postage too.
But as ever, it's hit and miss whether you get caught.

DHL say:

"What is the value for Duty?
Customs assess the amount of Duty to be paid based on the declared value of the goods plus the transport costs to the country of destination."

If the item is below £15 then postage is irrelevant. If the item is over £15 then the postage costs factor into the calculations.

Where you get hit is where the retailer doesn't separate out the postage cost and just puts a total figure on the declaration.

I have stuff coming through the post all the time where the postage on the declaration clearly takes it over the threshold. Never been charged.
I've corrected my post which was slightly inaccurate - but the precise HMRC procedure is confusing.
In over 10 years of ordering items from Australia, all invariably over priced boxsets I never got charged once.
Until a few weeks ago when the £23 Harryhausen Bluray set incurred a charge of £14.
Inconsistent isn't the word.

It's one good reason to use Amazon.com as they now allow you to pay duties when you order so you save anything from £8 to £11 in courier admin fees

Haha, and I changed my response as well after checking.

Clear as mud!
