Be Forever Yamato had that trip to "2402", which led to one of the dumbest plot twists I've ever seen. Here's hoping these new movies won't re-enact it exactly, except making it a more distant "future".

Really hope Funimation can get 2205 at some point considering how fast they got 2202 when it was in the middle of coming out in Japan...
Plus if there's any precedent from them getting the Date A Live and HLP movies, maybe Celestial Ark isn't an improbability either. |

26 episodes for the 3199 anime. Meanwhile I'm still waiting on Funi to get 2205... |

Do any of the 2205 Blu-rays have English subs?

The anime reviews on this site read like the writer is struggling to meet the minimum word count required for a review. The writer seems to be going down a checklist and ticking off boxes.
The 2.5 star rating appears to be for the following reasons: 1) he prefers the cel-based animation of the original to the CGI-enhanced animation of the reboot; 2) the character designs are not as "artistic" as the originals; 3) the reboot should have had a darker and grittier aesthetic; 4) the score can't compare to the original (despite it being practically a note-for-note redux of the original score by the son of the original composer); and 5) it's an unnecessary reboot of a classic series that doesn't "hold a candle" to the original. So, basically, the 2.5 is just because he prefers the original. |

I suppose I can see where he's coming from. If they remade the original Macross today, and all the mecha were CG (because of course they would be), I might have a similar reaction. The parts of the review I don't understand are the complaints about the score (2199 essentially just updates the original score) and the updated character designs not being as "artistic" as the originals (as I really liked the new designs by Nobuteru Yuki). I'm also surprised he didn't mention the addition of more female characters to the crew and the fan service, although it was not a lengthy review. |
