Hey guys/gals, having done a search on the 4308 and not finding the info i wanted here i am. i added the 3808 to this thread in the hope it might have the feature i'm looking for, if so the 4308 would have it too.
I'm in the process of acquiring a multi channel power amp so the Fr L/R channels will be unused on the AVR. * Is it possible to use one of these unused channels on the AVR to biamp the center? * Am i able to biamp the center using the Surr Bk channels? I'm hoping this can be done with the fr rather than the rear channels so if i decide to go 7.1 i still have that option. TIA |

To the best of my knowledge, you cannot use the free channels to bi-amp the center. Although, the receiver has Pre-outs for all the channels, it does not have inputs for these channels like the old receivers used to have. The rear channels can be used for bi-amping the fronts. You need another mono amplifier to bi-amp your center. Buy a three channel amp. A unique feature on the 4308 model is that it supports four side surrounds (two on the right and two on the left) and two in the rear. It calls them surround A and surround B. During calibration, it can calibrate them individually as well as together (A & B combined). I use that option with excellent results. Last edited by Big Daddy; 01-18-2009 at 01:56 AM. |

I was really hoping this could be done. It would've been the deal maker. I had read in the manual about the amps being assignable (but couldn't understand it) and hoped they could be sent to the center. The multi ch amp would do the fronts and subs while the avr does the centers and rears.
Back to the drawing board i guess.... Last edited by SRTCraig; 01-18-2009 at 02:00 AM. |
