It's probably the alliance copy from Canada.

Import. Avoid if you don't want to double dip for a better US version down the road like what happened with Fight Club.

It is the Canadian Alliance 1080i bare bones release. We had it up here in Canada for almost a year now, if not longer. It doesn't get noticed because of not being 1080p with special features. Not sure about the AR but I think it's accurate. Most reviews place it as a good upgrade over the DVD but still, most people rather wait for the official release.

O God you better stay away from the Canadian Alliance copy as they cropped the 2:35:1 frame that David Fincher shot and cropped it to 1:78:1.

I have the dutch version and its was one of the best blu rays i own.The PQ is amazing for a 15 year old film. The blacks are solid without losing detail and its so sharp in nearly every scene.Dutch version is widescreen and 1080p but lacks any extra's but this film was to good to pass with great PQ and AQ.Not sure why they buggered up for the Can version.

I have the Dutch version and yes it has the original English audio and optional Dutch subtitles, but IMO it can only be given a qualified recommendation. The problem lies in the audio mix, which unfortunately makes some of the dialogue very hard to make out over other elements of the soundtrack. This is especially noticeable in the crucial climax, where key lines such as "Oh - he didn't know!" are almost lost amidst the pounding music at that point. There is also a momentary but annoying glitch in the audio during the final drive in the car, where one track of the music disappears for a second.

The Canadian release has a much better balanced audio mix but of course the film is shown in an opened-out 1.78 ratio instead of the 2.35 ratio that Fincher intended.

My advice would be to wait for what should be a much better US release from New Line, which will be region-free.

I bought the Canadian release purely because I was interested in seeing the open-matte version. And while, of course, it doesn't represent Fincher's original aspect intentions, or indeed the color scheme, it's still an interesting version to watch. I will be buying whatever Fincher-approved version hits blu first.

Same exact specs as the Canadian release, only it carries optional Chinese subtitles (Traditional and Simplified, but no English).
