Your other post, and the one that I was initially replying to, was looking at just three weeks from the summer of 2019. I was comparing the weeks that you had selected with a few weeks from this summer.

In 2019, disc sales totaled $3.29265 billion, which was a weekly average of $63.32 million.

After six months of 2021, disc sales were at $947.48 million, which was a weekly average of $36.442 million.

So, 2019 averaged $63.32 million per week while 2021 is averaging just $36.442 million after the first six months. Much of that decrease, but by no means all of it, is due to the pandemic.

Isn't it usually in the mid-to-high 20s? It seems pretty rare for it to get above 30%.

Marvel Studios’ Black Widow debuted at No. 1 on the NPD VideoScan First Alert chart, which tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc unit sales, and the dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart the week ended Sept. 18.

This is better. UHD pulling hard with Black Widow and Justice League.
Blu-ray stronger at 32%, and DVD over half but just 52%.

This is what new theatrical releases can do.

But every week won't be like this one, unfortunately. Cruella is the next week, I don't expect it to be as big. Free Guy is week of Oct 12, we'll see if that can pull as much weight as a MCU or DCU movie can?

Only post pandemic. It was more consistently higher before the pandemic.

This week with 4K releases of F9 and Cruella, should help. Just need a lot more recent cinema titles to come out. What we are seeing is still like sampling, instead of a full course of worthy titles.
