Have a PS3 and only 7 blu rays. (not exactly 372!).. 6 on the way tho thanks to amazon BOGO.. must look out for more of those offers!

So you can see a difference between 1080p & 1080i at 10 feet on a 42 inch Plazzy.... God Dam* you should be working as a spy plane not on hear with us unworthy's

the point i was getting at was that my projector is an optoma dv10 which i think does 720 natively.

i hook up my ps3 using component cables to the projector and it says its outputting 1080p, but i dont know if its the ps3 being fooled or something.

if anyone knows, id really be interested in finding out.

besides that, it looks phenomenal.

Hell ya come to the site alot & you will no about all the BOGO's . Unfortunately I have not even got 1 free BD as I already have all the BD's the BOGO's offer , OH WELL

If your PRO accepts a 1080p signal then it will definitely say 1080p but not be in fact a 1080p sig of course, because the native RES. is 720p

My 50'' 720p Panny Plazzy is also like your projector in accepts a 1080p signal but is native 768p to be precise & there for down converted.

I'll get there eventually! is there a difference in quality between blu ray players? like is my ps3 as good as a stand alone blu ray player?

The problem with DirecTV isn't the compression method. The problem with DirecTV is that it's not true HD. They use what many people refer to as HD-Lite since it's displaying 1280x1080i rather than a full HD image of 1920x1080p.

BTW, DirecTV still uses MPEG-2 as well as H.264/MPEG-4 for HD broadcast.
