And sorry, but “compte” (which you later spelled “compt”) is a different word in a different language with different meanings. And it’s a noun. None of the four definitions to which you link are applicable to the context in which the concept first came up, which is as a verb.

Oh! One other BD grouse, apropos of spinning The Equalizer recently in prep for Denzel tonight: "Rental copies." It used to be that Nf didn't do this; mainly it was redbox. But the BD I got from Nf of Equalizer is devoid of supps that are on the sellthrough.

You're obviously not new to "Blu" as you've been on the site for over eight years. What brought you to start doing Nf disc rental recently?

Sadly, this started around the release of Bridesmaids? Apparently the studios put pressure on Netflix to purchase rental copies? Universal and another studio (Lionsgate?) seem to be the most consistent? While I love my extras or uncut versions, I get it. I personally use Netflix to gauge whether something is a buy or pass.

I wonder if Netflix will toy with the idea of making Roma and other Nf shows available on disc exclusively to subscribers. Purchase it via the Nf account tied to a certain e-mail address.

Seeing an increase in both the quantity and length of wait for "Very Long Wait" titles even when at/near the top of my queues.

I wish this did continue to be a popular option. More often than not there were more films I wanted to see that I could only get through the disc rental end of the business, but hey the company favors the majority that would rather stream and be content with whatever comes out that month, oh well. Once I saw that a great deal of what I wanted had very long wait I knew that it was a done deal for me.

Up until last weekend I’ve been a big advocate of Netflix BD program. Well, probably more like a year ago, but moving to another state didn’t help matters. Between receiving DVD’s, the late turn around and receiving damaged discs I ended my long time 2 disc plan last weekend. What makes matters worse is that there was no follow up on my survey on why I canceled.

Yeah, it's sad because I'd much rather rent than buy for a lot of titles, but their diminishing BD selection, increasing wait times, and increasing delays in receiving/processing returned discs and in turnaround time . . . I basically haven't watched a new netflix disc in a while so I think the time has come to cut this cost.

Renting Discs has passed, if you still want to do this then consider Red Box. In some areas they have 4K Rentals. I was looking at new Movies coming out, and it seems from Theater Release it goes to Digital first before coming out on Disc. So get Amazon or a good Digital Provider, because Discs are on the way out.

Almost every new release can be rented on iTunes as well, including some titles that don't even get a blu-ray release

I wonder if this varies by location? I haven't noticed any delay in receiving my discs, usually turn around time is 3 days (not including weekends) which ends up about 6 movies a month for me. For the price, it's not a bad deal. As others have said, the selection is much better than any of the streaming services or red box, especially when I'm looking for smaller/independent releases.

I'm hoping they don't get rid of this option. I really like it and still find it the best way to rent movies.

It might be a bit better if you're willing to settle for DVDs instead of blu-rays

Really? Because a neighboring town has a pretty large rental store and every big box store in my area has a Red Box kiosk. So go ghost another thread. Maybe if you’re lucky you’ll find one you actually know what you’re talking about

This was kind of my experience initially. I could never understand standing in a line at a kiosk when you could simply walk out to your mailbox. But things started to shift once the studios put the pressure on Netflix to only use rental discs on new releases. Next thing I know, it is long waits, receiving DVD’s instead of BD’s and my saved list becoming as long as my que, slight exaggeration there, but not by much. It also doesn’t help that I still haven’t been contacted regarding my cancellation despite being a long term customer.

Netflix still works for me.

• The discs are usually BD, rarely DVD
• The discs come as quickly as they always did, though if I moved out to the sticks, I'm sure a day or two could be added to that. I could live with that though.
• Sometimes they send one before they receive the one I dropped in the mail, so there's 4 in my 'at home' queue rather than 3 — the returned disc must get scanned at USPS and gives them notice that it's on the way.
• The damaged discs are still as low a percentage as they were before. Also, I ALWAYS report the damaged disc on return (one hopes that takes it out of the system).
• The Netflix disc selection is still FAR better than their films available for streaming on Netflix

I have Amazon. I have a Roku. I stream plenty of stuff. But discs are still the better source for selection of films, and are still be the better quality viewing.
