Got to give credit where itís due. Samsung didnít have to make an OLED. The fact they did & are on top of all the issues is a good sign.

Well there is only so much OLEDs can do. ASBL is a thing on Samsung.

Got my 65" display yesterday and some initial reaction; firmware updated and no issue with filmmaker mode. Blacks are not raised with lights on. I didn't flash any extreme light towards the display as that is not how I watch it anyway.
OOTB I had to set shadow detail +2 in order not to crush blacks. Near black performance is the best I've seen on any OLED by miles. No longer any issue with luminance overshoot that is a plague on any LG display.
Picture itself is the cleanest I've ever seen. Not sure my display even did any compensation cycle yet but OOTB there is zero issues other than the mentioned black crush which the shadow detail setting takes care of.
Will test some gaming today and see how it goes.

What about the other modes and the rest of the color accuracy issues they did better by fixing filmmaker mode but they arenít done yet.

Small update; shadow detail back at 0 after a comp cycle, verified with test patterns.
Game mode looks good and damn what a clean panel this is. I set peak brightness at medium as it's just too bright otherwise. Not too concerned with accuracy in game mode.
Oh and btw I disabled ASBL in service menu and no issues. I only use my display for movies and gaming so not too worried.

Nice. Didnít look into where or how to disable it on Samsung.
Peak at Medium sounds about right judging from peopleís brightness shock value.

I average 2,000 hours/6 months with ASBL off. I should be good with my C1.

Rtings just updated the review with the latest firmware:
https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/s95b-oled

Did not change the overall rating at all and still has many of the same negatives like:

"blacks appear raised and the TV has a slight pink tint to it if there's even a bit of light in your room. To enjoy this TV to the fullest, you really need to be in a perfectly dark room."

"Unfortunately, the 'Auto' Color Space setting is currently broken, as it doesn't switch to the correct color space automatically, so you need to manually change it to 'Native' when you start watching HDR content. This setting results in the widest color gamut the TV can display, but it also clips in some places and many colors appear oversaturated, so it's not very accurate. With the Color Space set to 'Auto', colors in HDR are far more accurate and there's less clipping, but it only covers about 75% over the Rec. 2020 color space."

"large bright scenes are dimmed considerably by the TV's Automatic Brightness Limiter (ABL). This is mainly distracting when watching sports with bright playing surfaces, like hockey. Setting Peak Brightness to 'Off' effectively disables the ABL feature, but also reduces to the peak brightness to about 190 cd/m≤ in most scenes."

"Like all OLED panels, there are thin vertical lines in near-dark scenes, and they're a bit more noticeable than on similar OLEDs like the LG C2 OLED. There's also a noticeable Venetian blind effect in darker scenes."

"The Samsung has much better color volume, and colors are significantly brighter than on the LG. Skin tones look better on the Samsung, but some colors look a bit unnatural at times. Conversely, the LG has better black levels in rooms with a bit of natural light, whereas the Samsung is really best enjoyed in a completely dark room. "

Oh and the new firmware does not brew you a great cup of Java either.

So in short if you want zero level blacks with LCD-like over saturated unnatural colors then this is for you.
If you want color accuracy the LG OLED panel is still king.

If it really has a pink tint in a room with any light, why does it still get a 9.5 score for reflection? If it's colours are so oversaturated, why rate it 9.5 for post-calibration accuracy, etc?

So is the TV better than they say, or is their ratings system broken? Or am I missing something?

I don't know what they have been smoking but the panel does not have raised blacks unless you flash light directly in front of the display. It's not raised blacks either, just a reflection. No pink tint either. The panel has like zero tinting.
More noticeable banding than on LG OLED..? LG must be paying good for them to post this nonsense.

I really like this display but the color space bug is quite annoying. How has Samsung not fixed this yet? Vincent should get on it a.s.ap!
Found this article with select titles affected by this bug: https://crast.net/86514/activate-thi...ove-4k-movies/

The auto detect color gamut is still messed up?

Thatís a bummer. That would be annoying manually switching that to the right setting every time you watch something new.

Seems so. Though I've seen some owners saying it does switch on auto setting when presented with the right content. 4K blu-ray content only works on DCI-P3 from what I can tell after multiple tests.

I don't know, what does he say?
I went from a C9+G1 to this one and uniformity + near-black performance is fantastic. Colors are great but not a massive leap over LG once you settle on the correct FMM. White color though looks far more natural when it's not glowing like it does on the LG. Some people were unhappy when Samsung disabled DTM in FMM. Software still has few bugs. Remember this is pretty much first generation technology. Samsung just applied existing software to a new type of panel and they need to sort few issues out.

People complaining about their Sammy giving them accuracy in Colors now. Seems about right.
