My very first car was a brand new white 2001 Ford Mustang...

My mom bought it for me when I was 14, almost 15... I started driving it to and from school before I got my license because my mom got tired of driving me to school. ... it was about a mile and a half away.

We sold it when I got a brand new black 2004 Saturn Ion Quad Coupe when I graduated...

My first car was a 1984 Chevy Cavalier hatchback... this was in 1994. I only had it for 6 months (until it met it's maker).

The car was handed down to me by my brother. It was in 3 car accidents (never fixed) before I got it. The front was all mashed up, where only 1 headlight worked... and it was a highbeam light. Also, only one windshield wiper worked (thankfully it was on the driver's side). Plus, the rear driver's side triangle window was kept on the car with Duct tape.... oh yeah, the latch you use to slide the seat closer and farther from the dash, was broken. So, whenever I pressed the brake pedal, the person in that seat would slide forward and practically get strangled by the seatbelt!

Somehow, some way, I still dated (Junior in high school) a few chicks with that car....

First car, at 16. I had three of these things in my teens, they were a dime a dozen in West Germany...

First car I ever had was a hand me down from my folks, an 89 Olds Cutlass that I drove for about 2 months before it died a merciful death on the highway.

The first car I actually purchased was a 1987 Chevrolet Sprint that I paid $500 for. It was three cylinders worth of absolute crap. I bought it from the sleaziest car lot in the Tri-State area, and when the starter went about 5 months later, I said the hell with it and got a 95 Sentra (this was in 98.)

1977 Ford F150 pickup truck, baby blue 3 on the tree manual transmission. Sucker was a tank, was fast, ran perfectly, and I bought it for $800 when I was 17. Sold it for what I paid for it a year later, and I wish I kept it.

My first car was a 1978 Honda Civic. It was a good little car, but it only lasted 5 months before I totalled it. I was only 16 when I had it. That was back in the mid 80's

This thread is making me feel old...

My first car was a 1972 Datsun 510. Great little beater that I paid $300 for. Had it for two years and sold it for $400. What a deal!

My father gave me his Plymouth Turismo that I drove to university from 86-89. What a POS!

Had two new Hondas after that. A prelude from 89-99 and an accord from 99-08.

This year I finally broke the mold and bought a German car. I currently own a BMW 135i. Best car I've ever owned by far.

My first car was a 1985 Volkswagen Cabriolet. It was so much fun to drive around late at night with the top down with my friends, but it was also a terrible car. On the highway it was so loud I you had to yell to hear the person next to you, plus the electrical system was shot, I had to have a switch screwed to the dash to turn on the fuel pump "like a race car!" I used to say. I actually had some wires touch inside the dash and the whole car filled with smoke while driving once. It burned out all the lights in the car. Then my cooling fan broke and the car would overheat if you go stuck in traffic. The day before I got my new car I finally got stuck in construction traffic and half my coolant boiled over, but my car also wouldn't start again if I stopped it at the time so I just had to keep going until it sputtered into the parking lot at my work.

1970 Dodge Challenger.

That I bought in the Army for $500. It had a shot 318 motor, some friends of mine helped me pull it out and put in another 318. When I got out of the Army took it home put in a 383 ci with a four barrel Holley, that thing was a rocket. I drove it from Alabama to Oregon, no problems, in fact I practically flew over the Rockies. I hit a deer with it and it only left a scratch, while the deer didn't fair so well. Years later it developed all sorts of problems, no windshield wipers, no reverse, no heater, and it leaked like a sieve. So, I traded it in (one of the worst mistakes in my life, my father in law is a great mechanic and I'm now studying to be one) for a 1991 Ford Probe, that got repo'ed.

Now a drive a 1985 Cadillac El Dorado, it's OK, nowhere as cool as the Challenger, or as it was called the Pink Missile. The Pink Missile cause we did a home paint job that the red faded to pink. Oh, I LOVED that car.

1972 white VW camper van. Got it as a 16-year old in high school. I was instantly the one who had to drive everyone to the parties on the weekend and off-campus at lunch. It had a sink, refrigerator, a ton of cabinets to hide beer in, a fold out bed and curtains all the way around.

1975 Chevy Malibu, which I received as a gift sometime in the early 80's. ('83?)

My car looked like the one in the photo below, except it was a mustard yellow color.

Whys that, owning a car and car insurance are extremely out of my means of what I can afford.

By not adding to the problem meant adding to unsafeness of the road its one less driver to hit someone..
