Default Frame rate/hz signal question

I'm still trying to optimize the PQ on my xbr850e after several months. Sometimes I'm very happy with it, sometimes I see something (and learn more about the display) and make an adjustment.

The latest bother is jutter during panning shots. After a bit of reading I've learned this can be attributed to not having the display set properly for 24fps signals. I have also read the True Cinema set on my Sony will detect the native signal and reproduce it. I do notice some jutter here. I have moved to Clear which uses black frame insertion (not interpolation) to smooth out the image but the display is darkened a bit. If I turn on Smooth then it's super soap opera and I introduce motion artifacts.

So what can I do to make the image as smooth as possible during pans without adding any artifacts?

Player is Xbox one S and I have 24hz and 50hz both enabled.

judder from 24fps content is normal but looks worse on TV'S because they sample and "hold" the image instead of flashing black in between frames like a projector.

I would recommend the Black frame insertion mode because it is the best at reducing judder without any artifacts, because it is emulating how projectors work. The reduction in brightness is from the flashing of black frames and is something you get used to especially if its in a dark room.

Does the Motionflow menu have "Film Mode"? That's the one that inserts extra frames for judder-free 24p.

To reduce 24p judder, set Motionflow to True Cinema and CineMotion to High. This shouldn't add any soap opera effect.
