I had the A2-300 then it died and I got the VTF-2 MK4 and was floored by it. Had it two years and compared it to the SVS PB-2000 and VTF3 MK5, sold the 2.4 and bought the 3.5. The SVS didn't seem that much better then the 2.4. The only reason I looked to upgrade was I was now in a much larger room.

When you had the VTF-2, which tuning method did you generally use? I'm currently using one port plug while I break it in.

FWIW I use the single-plug config in my home for music and film, too, and adjust response/power by moving the crossover and boosting the signal from the AVR. I finally settled on a crossover that complemented my mains.

I ran 1 port open in max extension with a .05 Q setting. Set the volume about 10-11 o'clock position. I run the VTF3 MK5 about the same with a little more volume towards the 11-12 position.

Has anybody had an issue with fraudulent charges on their credit card after purchasing from HSU? I just found a $362 charge for a so called charitable donation to some ministry based out of California. I'm not making any accusations, just curious if any other customers have had their credit card information compromised after a purchase.

So one of my Epik Empires bit the dust now I'm shopping for a pair of new subwoofers. How's HSU Research as a company with support, warranty, and repairs? I'm asking because I was probably the last customer Epik had prior to shutting down. I DO NOT want to get in that situation again. I want a company who is going to be around.

I think Hsu Research is the oldest internet direct sub company, by a little, over SVS. They're a single owner company. I believe SVS is, too, after their shakeup. Even the big boy companies get bought up by conglomerates, so nothing is definitive.

SVS offers a "5-year unconditional warranty against defects in parts or workmanship", and Hsu offers an optional paid 5 year warranty. As far as the people that run the companies, I've heard nothing but good things about Dr. Hsu. I can't say the same thing about most of the other sub companies' owners.

Default HSU HB-1 MK2 "Sale"

In case anyone is interested...

HSU Research is having a "Thanksgiving Sale" on their HB-1 MK2 Bookshelf Speaker.

I bought a set back in May and they are excellent for Home Theater ...

Wow. This thread hasn't seen life in damn near a year!

I just recently picked a HSU VTF3 MK3, and am running it with a set of Apogee Centaur's. They blend well. I've been a huge SVS fan for quite some time, and I still am. I also recently sold a SVS PB12 in favor of the HSU. I had them both at the same time, so a side by side comparison was easy enough. The HSU played better with music than the SVS...so it stayed. Not saying SVS is inferior though by any means. I've had the same 4 PB12 PLUS/2's integrated in my HT quite awhile, they will certainly not be going anywhere.

Yeah, bang for buck they're hard to beat. If their products are in your sweet spot, then there isn't anything for the price that can match them. I auditioned their VTF3Mk5 at their factory, and was blown away, literally.
