I wonder whats going on with Funi's release of Tales of the Abyss? It cant be ordered from Amazon anymore (as of this post) RS says "out of stock, expecting more" but my pre order for it with them still says "pending fulfillment".

This has been happening with a few releases this last month. Just means the distributers haven't gotten any copies by the release date. It will ship out when it comes in stock in a week or so.

Less focus on meeting demand for physical copies or something? It's becoming extremely common as of the past couple months.

Industry wide delays due to the last US major disc replicating plant closing down. All major replication is shipped to Mexico which, in turn, has to be shipped back. This also happened at time, Q4, when physical media orders are at their highest.
So we get widespread delays. I’m guessing tentpole releases get to go to the front of the line, then the pecking order goes right on down the line for the rest.

The big plant in Mexico closed down, not just the US one. We've literally got one or two bottlenecked disc production facilities since the one in Mexico is gone and the other here closed down.

^^ That's scary news to think about.
It's one thing for studios to be haphazard on release schedules but pressing delays are only gonna get worse with loss of plants to do it.

I don't mean to be crass, this is an honest question.
"A Sister Is All You Need" seems like a bit of an incestuous title and I know anime does not shy away from that so, um, is it?
Not my cup-o-tea, just curious....

No, it's about a bunch of writers, the main one writes stories about little sisters (he has one but doesn't know it).

Hmm, taken out of context, that could mean quite a lot.

She's just a friend, not a sister and surprisingly in college.

This girl with the penis haircut is not a sister either

They are both naked a ton though

Seeing as every comic character/series needs to have a movie, guess it only makes sense for every anime series to get a live action while we're at it.

Theres a lot of bad live action stuff based on anime released in Japan also, Both movies & TV shows. I say just let the stuff stay in anime form.

Yeah, they always pick shows that probably will not translate well from anime or manga form. Trying to cram a story that spanned 100+ chapters or 24+episodes into 1 or 2 movies isn't easy to do. This on top of trying to make it appeal to non-anime fans causes them to take too many liberties with the characters and story. In the end, it becomes a jumbled mess that everyone hates.

If I were Netflix, I'd look into doing stuff like Black Lagoon. It's a straight up action flick with most of the main cast being from America, anyway.

Yeah, I'm not really interested at all, but at least this live-action Cowboy Bebop is going to be a 10 episode series, and not just a movie... so at least they will have a bit more time to flesh it all out. Will the episodes be a half hour or an hour long, I wonder?

Also, this at the end of the article - hopefully it will be miles above the Sham-a-lame-alam movie:

This is also the latest instance of Netflix adapting an animated series into a live-action series. Back in September, it was announced that a live-action “Avatar: The Last Airbender” series was in the works at Netflix with original creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko onboard as showrunners.
