Looking at the stuff I did keep up with on my list. I’m pretty much caught up. A few releases I know one of the disc had something not 100% right I’ve been buying new editions. Looking at old post here and other places I’m caught up on things I wanted from Funimation.

The thing going on with AMC worries me a little. Hopefully Sentai/Hidive does not suffer any from it. Also hopefully the next CEO is an anime and physical media fan. A lot of stuff I doubt any other company would pick up even if it’s popular that Sentai would.

All of these companies still expecting and banking on the pandemic level numbers from streaming. Then for some reason thinking they lost something they really never had. They need to take their expectations back to 3 years ago.

Nope, because VIZ Media are the ones distributing it for Crunchyroll and VIZ is rather slow with anime. Jujutsu Kaisen 0, that may be SOL as strange as it sounds as the track record for Crunchyroll licensed movies screened in movie theaters getting home video releases is extremely poor.

Right Stuf President, Co-Founder Shawne Klecker Leaves Right Stuf/Crunchyroll

Kleckner co-founded anime retail, licensing company in 1987

In an email sent to Crunchyroll staff and shared with Anime News Network, anime retailer Right Stuf president and co-founder Shawne Kleckner told fellow employees this week that he will leave Right Stuf and Crunchyroll on December 14. He expressed his confidence in the current Right Stuf management team at Crunchyroll.

Kleckner's friend Todd Ferson launched Right Stuf initially as a shell company to purchase telescopes at wholesale prices. (At that point, the company's name was still spelled as "The Right Stuff," a reference to the film of the same name.) Ferson and Kleckner then renamed the company to Right Stuf in 1987, after the company acquired its first anime license Astro Boy.

Since the company's inception, Kleckner has overseen the company through its many developments, including the launching of its website in 1994, the founding of the company's Nozomi Entertainment production label in 2007, and most recently Sony and Crunchyroll's acquisition of the company.

In his internal email to staff announcing his departure, Kleckner highlighted the customer-focused approach that he maintained at the company, which he refers to as "Super Service." He said that Right Stuf has maintained a reputation of personalized customer response, as well as secure packaging and shipping to customers.

Crunchyroll announced on August 4 earlier this year that it has acquired Right Stuf to expand its eCommerce service. Kleckner and the Right Stuf team then joined Crunchyroll's Emerging Businesses organization, led by Terry Li.

Wow hardly a transition period, usually the buyer likes to keep company founders around for at least 6-12 months until customers get used to things. Heck when my dentist was ready to retire he stuck around for a year to smooth the transition for patients to the new owner of the practice.

I wonder if Sony will decide to get rid of the RS branding and it will just become the new crunchyroll store especially since that seems to be the only brand they care about.

I could see that. Sony will probably drop the RS brand name and maybe the GA membership.

Well they better continue to sell other non-funi/aniplex/crunchy anime as the one-stop-shop that Rightstuf currently is, and not just become The Crunchyroll Store, selling only their Crunchyroll and Aniplex releases.

I just noticed that Clannad is getting reissued for the billionth time and that it will most likely use the 2020 steelbook discs. I have the 2017 set. How were the 2020 discs any upgrade?
