Blu-ray design reveal! And a Blu-ray only tier?

Heya everyone on Kickstarter and in Anime land!

So another common requests we're receiving right now is about the Blu-ray:

What will the Blu-ray disk/case look like?
¥20,000 (Approximately $180) is a bit too much for a Blu-ray. We need a more affordable "Blu-ray only" tier.

Allow us to answer these questions.
"What will the Blu-ray disk/case look like?"

So our design team has come up with our first design prototype. We REALLY love how it looks, so this just might be the final! (But please do keep in mind, some things may be subject to change.) Here it is... voila!

I'm pretty sure we ALL agree everything looks awesome, beautiful and professional, complete with a booklet! It will be an amazing addition to your collection no doubt!

And yes, this will include both English / Japanese audio language selection, plus a choice to turn on/off English subtitles.
"We need a more affordable "Blu-ray only" tier."

This request is a bit harder to answer. We do understand, from past experience, that Blu-rays are relatively more affordable in "Western" countries, mainly due to the market simply being bigger(= more sales, hence ability to lower prices). However, it does not apply to all anime movie projects, especially to smaller production/budget ones like ours. At this point, it is VERY difficult for us to expect huge sales.

Therefore, we have no choice but to offer it for this price - surround-sound Blu-ray estimated cost around ¥8,000 (Approx. $75), everything up to Rank 4, plus T-shirts and other exclusive items not available anywhere else totaling to ¥20,000 (Approx. $180). INCLUDING WORLDWIDE SHIPPING too.

To us, the team, this is currently the best value we can offer, and believe it's well worth it - Especially after seeing the package is super awesome too!)

Meanwhile, the team will constantly be discussing about this topic, and we are ALWAYS happy to hear what everyone has to say, whether it be positive or negative.

Yep, no interest in that Kickstarter for me. And I really think ¥20,000 to even get a Blu-ray copy is going to kill that Kickstarter. Meh, the last few anime offerings via Kickstarter have been a bust for me, I wasn't even interested in that Megazone 23. It does seem weird to be sitting out so many anime Kickstarters when I used to participate in almost all of them.

NEWS: "Blu-ray Only" Tier Now Available!

After many requests, and many discussions within the production team, we are happy to announce the long-awaited tier! An "Anime Blu-ray Only" tier for the purists, the "English Dubbed Final Edition" in maximum video quality and 5.1 surround sound, region code free.

This tier will include:

Thank you letter from the team (PDF)
Giant insects artwork smartphone wallpaper
"English Dubbed Final Edition" Blu-ray (*Outside Japan Only)

The reward price is ¥8,000, which is approximately $75. (A bit on the higher-end compared to common US prices - reason explained in Update #3)

The add-on menu will also apply to this tier, so add ¥2,000 for the Live Action movie "Alternate Version", or ¥3,500 for the Live Action movie "Collector's Bundle". (*Both downloads.)

I called CS last week and they are sending a replacement disc out to me as well.

I understand it's a theatrical release, so just a movie, not a full season. Should be able to easily frankenstein one disk into the Aria Box.

Update for Emma:

Hello all,

We hope this message finds you safe and well! We wanted to give everyone an update on the current status of the Emma dub.

First off, some good news: recording for Season 1 is completely finished! All pickups have been taken care of, and the 2.0 mixes are complete. The 5.1 tracks are currently being mixed.

On the Blu-ray side of things, the video upscale for Season 1 is also complete. The next stage for Emma Season 1 will be encoding and authoring. However, this is where we hit our first snag. While work is still continuing as normal here at Nozomi, many of the companies in our supply chain are under COVID-19 restrictions, which means we cannot give an accurate estimate for how long it will take to get Japanese licensor approvals, disc replication, and box manufacturing.

This same problem applies to Emma Season 2. Headline Studios is in New York, which has been hit hard by the pandemic. While the studio staff and the actors are all safe and in good health, getting actors in the studio for recording sessions has become difficult, and not everyone has a high-quality recording space at home to be able to work remotely.

But there's good news here, too! Director Joe DiGiorgi has been doing everything he can to keep things moving forward. A good deal of the recording on Season 2 is actually already complete, and we may even have a new cast announcement for you soon!

So, in short, this means that we could very well end up in a situation where the dubbing and authoring are done for both seasons, but we will need to wait on replication of the actual physical discs and art boxes. We'll be sure to keep you posted as soon as we know more.

A First Look at the Emma Art Book!

Hello all,

Good news: the Emma art book is complete, and it has been approved by the Japanese licensor!

The book is 196 pages long. It's 8"x10", the cover is faux leather, and it's filled with information, full-color artwork, and two interviews with Kaoru Mori - one of which uses questions from Kickstarter backers!

This Emma art book is exclusive to this Kickstarter, and will not be printed a second time.

If you want to pick one up, you still can, but to get one YOU MUST PLACE YOUR ORDER BY MONDAY JULY 6th!

Looks pretty awesome to me! I had to check my account to see if I actually got the art book with my pledge or not or not - I saw that I pledged the extra $60 for the art book, so I'm good!

I do have to say that as far as artbooks go, this one is incredibly nice.

If I cared about the Emma anime at all I would definitely order the book to go with the series. Thankfully I don’t care about this show in the slightest, which saves me quite a bit of $$$.
