"Hello Deci-san,
We noticed that you added one or more items to your Amazon.co.jp Shopping Cart, but didn't continue to Checkout. When you're ready to buy, simply visit your Shopping Cart to complete your order. Amazon.co.jp" I've received several daily e-mails like this since the "switch" about the items in my cart , of course can't order them. Must be some kind of new torture. |

I haven't had anything removed from my cart but when I tried to checkout 2 preorders with my US address as the default shipping address, I get "You cannot buy this item because it's out of stock
Another seller might have a comparable offer for the same item. If available, see all buying options and try adding to cart." Edit: It's now letting me check out and ship to my US address again. Not sure if it matters, but I have a JP credit card. Last edited by jd213; 10-21-2022 at 02:32 PM. |

FWIW, the shipping issues don't seem to apply to Canada right now.

I’d ask what is going on, but I know the answer I’d get.
“From time to time some items become unavailable to ship to certain parts of the world. Some may become available again at a later date.” |

![]() Besides, Amazon JP are getting just as bad as Amazon US now with their crappy packaging for shipping, going to bags more often than boxes anymore. Another big reason to stop using them for anime, just as I have with Amazon US. I have ordered no anime whatsoever from Amazon US for at least the past 4-5 years. |

I have noticed more Blu-ray listed on Amazon US being sold from Amazon Jp. Some higher and some about the same as it would be at the current exchange rate.
If it was about the exchange rate you would think the figures and other collectibles would be affected to. |

It's not only anime titles you can't order now directly from Amazon.jp since the "change", it's everything, movie, tv shows, concerts, CD audio discs, etc. of every genre. Basically the new rule seems to be "Things already released" tho it's not 100%, there's a few things here and there that are released and you can order them but it doesn't make much logic neither. I could order the second album and the third album of an artist from the same label and remastered release series on my cart 2 weeks ago. Then a couple of day's later suddenly I can order only the second but not the third to the US. Both In Stock. Or can do pre-orders. But most all the things past release date ended suddenly locked.
While at the same, all those "not order-able to the US" can be shipped to the UK, or other countries for example. Interestingly this same "rule" was applied to Amazon.uk after they lifted and allowed pre-orders to the US again after the COVID "stoppage": You can do pre-orders on amazon.uk, but "Things already released" no, except for a few. That's been ongoing since then and the peculiar thing is you can order most of that non-deliverable Amazon.UK stuff from other Amazons and they get sent from the UK amazon warehouse! So it's not that they can't ship it from the UK, just not order it from amazon.uk. .

The proxy usually repackages extremely well, using both bubble wrap and plank. If you can consolidate together more than one package in a shipment, it sometimes is even cheaper shipping wise. |

Amazon JP usually has the lowest prices from Japan, but I'll gladly pay more from CDJapan or YesAsia just for their reliable, padded packaging in a cardboard shipping box. Both package very well.
![]() As for the UK, AOL is my go-to for ordering. I try to avoid Zavvi Unless they have an AL exclusive release, again because of poor packaging for international shipping. I've had numerous damaged anime coming from Zavvi. |
