Not uncommon for retailers to buy from each other; RACS does it for RightStuf exclusives, but not often you see RightStuf do it themselves.
I can't confirm for certain but I wouldn't be surprised if Cinema1 does this too. Buy things in bulk during US sales and pass on some savings for Canadian customers instead of full MSRP with currency conversion... Noticed when RightStuf delists an OOP anime title, Cinema1 is usually quick to follow |

I was thinking it could have been returned unsold stock from FYE to Crunchyroll, who then sent it to RS.
It's a sealed new copy, so there's nothing wrong with it. Just wasn't something I'd expect to see on a webstore product. |

Years ago I used to get copies of stuff with Best Buy, Transworld Ent , and other stores price stickers on them all the time from Rightstuf. I’ve had it happen with Amazon and Target as well. I assume it’s just redistributed returned stock. I remember at one point Funimation was bad about re-shrinking damaged returned stock instead of just pulling it. Some of the original budget releases they would repackage them to.

damage issues and Rightstuf took care of it.. I've always thought of that Insurance as a scam, and one time I used it by mistake because I didn't know about it and as you said, it defaults to YES. Only one time it happened, since then I've always double checked before completing my purchase... |

They know about the website being down and are working hard to bring it back up ASAP.

It's a smokescreen to actually cover the complete Sony/Crunchy makeover for the site, and we won't recognize it once it's back up. Like, June 2015 all over again, only worse. No more Sentai titles, no more Discotek titles, just the new Funi/Crunchy store. I predicted that would happen sometime around a March timeframe, so it's a little early yet...
Hopefully I'm insane and just completely wrong... ![]() |

Imagine if it later just redirects to the Crunchyroll Store instead, like what recently happened to the Madman Anime site.
Wouldn't be the first time we saw something happen without warning. See: Crunchyroll purchases RightStuf and immediately removes the 18+ items, cancels all 18+ item orders, and people had to wait months to be able to purchase some of those items as BuyAnime wasn't immediately ready to go, and it took months for orders transferred from RightStuf to ship. |
