Texting is actually a super convenient way to communicate, and has its advantages.

Phone calls require both people to be available at the same time, otherwise you have to leave a message that requires them calling their voice-mail before they can receive the message.
With texting I can send the message when I have the time, and they can read it when they have the time. No need to make a call to get the message as the message is already right there on the phone.
You're not wrong that younger people are avoiding face-to-face and phone calls, but people who text are able to communicate needed information much faster and more efficiently than we ever did with phone calls. A person can send 10 texts to different people in a matter of a few minutes, but phone calls would take longer and be less reliable.
If we could take *everything* back to the 50s or 60s I would do that in a heart beat (even though it would mean no anime) but in the current world we live in texting has become more valuable than phone calls.

No excuses. You can pre-order any and all of it.
For me lly, it's more important to buy 50% of my anime for half price than to worry about the 1 of 8 things I miss out on. My funds are extremely limited and you can have most of what you want as long as you have a little patience. Plan ahead, make a wishlist, bookmark everything, and be ready to jump when the sale happens. Buyers remorse is obnoxious and I'd rather not have only 1/2 the anime that I own.

Besides, the chase is half the fun too. You can sometimes track items down later and acquiring that stuff feels rewarding, and I get so much more enjoyment out of seeing those items on my shelves, and viewing them. It's like finishing the hunt, or completing a quest.

You win some you lose some. I find myself more preoccupied shaking my head at people that have this strange need to constantly talk about how much stuff they buy, how they have to own EVERYTHING, and only seem to be able to focus and talk about the sheer materialism of the hobby 24/7. That's gross. It's super materialistic, and often borders on compulsion and mental sickness, sometimes even depression. Esp when it leads to really weird and awkward humblebrag complaints later such as, "There is nothing left for me to buy =/ ". Just, ugh.

Focus on all the great things you have in life and be thankful for them. Not what is 'missing'.
I'm still amazed at the violet evergarden limited edition selling out in pre-order or right after it was released and *immediately* selling for $500. People weren't just listing it for 500, they were successfully selling it. I couldn't believe it.

You make a good point about not chasing expensive OOP items. Doing so can get someone in a bad repeating cycle.
>doesn't have money for item while in print
>splurges and uses all available funds for expensive item after it goes OOP
>now doesn't have money for other items that are in-print
>must splurge and use all available funds to get 1 or 2 OOP items later
If funds are limited, you'll build a much better collection by focusing on buying the items you want while they can be bought cheap. Unless you *really* need something for your collection it's better not to chase the expensive OOP items

Edit: sorry for double replying to the same post but I'm too lazy to combine them now

Some were actually going above $600. Still can't believe I managed to get a copy from RACS, I was waiting for it to get canceled just never happened.

Worse. It wasn't even available. I was waiting for the new mega deals and it was unavailable from the start. I was trying to buy it the other day and it wasn't available. Kinda bothers me they would make it a mega deal without any of them being available

That seems to happen at least once every year and during sales throughout the year to. I’m not sure if it’s some system they have doing it or if it’s staff that does not bother to look if something is not available.

The UK release is still a available on Amazon from the Amazon global UK store for cheap. Not sure if it’s locked to region B or not though.

Since this is the OOP thread and all sentai DVDs are OOP can I just say how poorly managed some of their items are/were?
Cobra the animation DVD pretty much stopped getting the "good" sale prices about a year ago or more. While other DVD were reduced to 1/2/3/4 dollars, Cobra was consistently 7/12. All of a sudden they decide to just dump them all at $1.
I get the impression that Sentai is at least moving in the right direction with the specific titles they offer, and the types of limited/special editions, as well as finally taking video quality seriously, but they really do know how to leave money on the table.

Yeah I've seen it happen every sale, and although it's not a big deal I still wish there was a little more oversight of the megadeals. Anyone who hasn't been keeping track of titles/inventory/pricing will see the awesome low price and feel even worse thinking that they just missed it when it wasn't even available.

Just a reminder- It seems that now only two copies are available at Amazon.com. Sold Out at Target, Walmart, and other retailers. This may be the last chance unless you are willing to pay inflated price at Ebay.

If you want Nichijou you might want to buy it from an ebay seller before the prices get jacked up. I think the market price will reach at least 70 for this item, so even if you do end up getting your rightstuff order you could sell the $35 eBay one and get all your money back and a small profit.
I don't know how badly you want it, but a little work right now could save you some anguish later.

Thanks for the advice, went ahead and ordered a backup copy from Walmart last night!

Worse case I can always just return the RightStuf order.

RIP, glad I secured a copy when I did last year.

I still haven't bought Season 1 yet though, waiting for the price to lower more.

It is not locked to region B, playable on region A devices. Probably the exact same discs as the US version.

Goblin Slayer: Season One is currently $21.99 (if you’re a Prime member) through Amazon and $23.33 for non Prine members.

Tempting offer, but it's a Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack which I try to avoid for Seasons/Series.

I'm sure they'll do a future standard re-release that's Blu-Ray only.

Also yes I know about the Blu-Ray only steelbook, but don't like it (and it's more expensive).

I wouldn’t be too sure. While Crunchyroll have carried on in Funimation’s stead, they have seemingly killed the Classics and Essentials labels. As for re-releases, they’ve been primarily focusing on big series like Dragon Ball and Yu Yu Hakusho. I’m not saying we won’t see another re-release down the road, but I don’t think Crunchyroll intends to follow Funimation’s example of putting out multiple re-releases of any given title moving forward.

All the more reason not to play the waiting game when it comes to buying series that you want.

Reposting this from The Fandom Post because WTK makes a really good point.

Seeing the trends with the retailers and the discussion happening in this thread of late, is why I have had a strong focus on grabbing any Funimation essentials and classics releases I've been putting off. Have filled out the collection quite a bit in the recent/current sales.
