Looks like they don't have it, UHD product listing is gone/out of stock and the BD set now says March, BOOOOOO. Have to get Dragons Forever now to curb my disappointment on the wait.

Possibly a stupid question, but this thread confuses me with the chat about different releases:

How (& indeed why) is 88 Films releasing Supercop a mere six months after the Eureka release?

88 Films is releasing it in the US; Eureka released it in the UK.

Update: I got an email from Amazon yesterday saying the new release date is March 16th and my order history updated to say the same.

Ah, of course! It all makes much more sense now.

Thanks!

Almost the same as the Eureka release. Differences:

First, assuming that the 88's "Outtakes and Behind the Scenes" is the same as the 52min "NG Shots" in Eureka release.

New in 88:

- Guy Laroche 1984 commercial with Jackie Chan & Michelle Yeoh

Things that Eureka has but 88 doesn't:

- 2nd commentary with Leeder & Venema
- Interview - John Kreng
- Interview - Stanley Tong 2005
- Police Story Location Guide
- The Ultra Violent Jackie Chan Arcade Games

If that stands, I'm happy with the Eureka release.

88’s has 5.1 and 7.1 Cantonese audio tracks I believe (like Eureka does), but yeah, in terms of bonus features on the disc, Eureka seems to be the clear winner here.

Shit, I messed up, sorry. Both have the 7.1 Atmos track, as well as mono and stereo Cantonese tracks. The 5.1 track I was babbling about is the "core audio" of the Atmos track. When ripping the disc one can choose to create a new 5.1 "core audio" track from the Atmos for compatibility reasons.. I just looked at the audio list of my ripped movie and forgot this completely. Again, very sorry. Fixed the previous post.

Wouldn’t normally post this here, but just because people are talking about it.

88:
  • The music in the outtakes is different.
  • The subtitles were remastered across the disc, and additional SDH sets were produced for both versions of the main feature.
  • Improved audio for some tracks on the main feature.
  • Different visual restoration (from the same raw material).

The interview with Stanley Tong from 2004 is included. Best to wait for the disc to come out in case anything was missed in the announcement and for an in-depth comparison.

I haven’t got Eureka’s set, but does it include the original Hong Kong trailer (not the reconstructed one with substitutions)?

Did 88 remaster the mono track from the original stems like they did with Dragons Forever? Seems like Eureka only did it for the Atmos mix but not the mono track for Police Story 3 to my ears.

For those who missed it, multiple Michelle Yeoh films are going to be on Criterion Channel starting next week, including Police Story 3, Magnificent Warriors, and the first two In the Line of Duty films.

The Heroic Trio and Executioners are being released by Criterion at some point on disc. Probably US only though.

Correct. I imagine it’ll finally be in 2023 after this and given Yeoh’s Oscar nomination (and potential win).

Some are US exclusives (the article has asterisks next to US only titles) but some of them should be on the service in the UK.

EDIT: Didn’t realize Criterion Channel isn’t officially available in the UK. My mistake.

Stupid question but how can I access the UK criterion channel? A search for it tells me it is not available in the UK.

Pay for it with a US VPN on - you may need to fudge the postcode when you enter your card details, I can't recall. You can watch it without a VPN.
