Agreed. Maybe if these get cancelled, they will finally get the point and actually do the series right.

We can only hope, but even if it doesn't convince them, atleast I can take pleasure in their failure.

At least we have Kai to watch until Funimation gets their act together.

Or at least when Toei remasters the series themselves.

I really hope that this happens because you know that they will treat this series with the respect it deserves and actually do it right if it ever becomes available again on Blu-ray.

I for one am amused that the prices on S2 and S3 have dropped so low on the pre-orders.

Still won't spend a dime for anything less than the original aspect ratio and some respect shown to the picture itself.

Kicking myself for not picking up the Level sets a while back when there was an awesome sale on Amazon, but figured they'd keep releasing them anyway so I was going to hold out for an even lower price. Silly me.

Looks like the wait will continue. C'est la vie.

They have to do it at some point. They can't just stick with DVD forever.

With Toei, they probably believe the Kai version is good enough to use as a Blu-ray release for Japan.

That's kind of what I'm thinking. It's amazing to think that with how big a property it was the Dragon Boxes were the single home video release of the Dragon Ball (& Z & GT) tv series over there, nearly 20 years after it premiered. I mean they had LD box sets of stuff like Columbo lol.

Yeah, but there's still the original Dragon Ball series, movies, specials, and Dragon Ball GT.

Yeah, I know. I hope that if and when these newest Blu-rays fail that Toei will go ahead and put out the series again on Blu-ray this time in the correct aspect ratio and color correction.

Price matched Walmart, and Walmart loves pricing things low. Amazon also loves price matching, thus the $16.96 price.

These sets failing might cause Funimation to not bother with releasing Dragon Ball Z on blu-ray again or for a long time. Having to blu-ray sets fail will make it hard to sell a third rendition with the same episodes again.

Well I received my Season 1 Blu-ray set and had a flip through it - it does indeed look "not the best".... especially the first episode, from what I can tell it gets marginally better as the episodes progress.

It kinda reminds me of some of Funimation's SD upscale Blu-rays, maybe a little bit better than that.

I'm just holding out that Season 2 and 3 are better than Season 1.

Also anyone in the know - when does Faulconer's music starts? Did they get someone else to do the music for Season 1 (broadcast version)? I did a quick google and looks like it possibly starts in Ginyu saga?

Has Funimation issued any remarks concerning the remaining episodes of Kai that Toei is working on (I assume they're still working on it) for the international market? It's been over a year.

I don't expect release dates or anything but some sort of confirmation would be nice.

The music for the first 53 (from the original 67) episodes under Saban was done by Shuki Levi.

Yeah, I've been waiting to see how Kai would take on the Buu arc, and we've heard little to nothing since that announcement. Whenever the episodes come, I hope it's sooner rather than later.

Judging by the quality of this product, it is still way too much.

For right now I am happy with my Kai sets, but if they ever came out with something like the Level Sets I would definitely consider buying the original Z again.

This is where I'm at with DBZ. I caved and decided to pick up the Kai sets even though I really want the original series. Even though the original is far too long, I still like a good majority of the filler. I almost feel Kai goes too fast and rushes through the story, though that's probably due to me being so used to the original series.
