Translation: Crunchyroll announced yesterday at AnimagiC 2022, they will release the cult anime "Dragon Ball" in an HD version on DVD and Blu-ray. At the same time, the anime will be released here for the first time in an uncut version. The previously missing scenes will be subtitled. The publisher already confirmed that the original German dubbed version will be available on the discs. During the panel, they also revealed a preliminary cover for the first box, which you can check out below. The German TV version of the anime has already been released in its entirety on DVD by KAZÉ. The planned HD version is not a classic remaster, but an HD upscale. |

No, but if Crunchyroll goes to the trouble of producing a HD upscale master for the entire series, you'd think that they'd release it in the US as well. That's not necessarily so, but I can't think of many cases where a US anime company has produced new masters for a show and not released it on disc in the US. Or to put it another way, it's hard to picture them doing all that (for 153 episodes) simply for a German disc release.

Dragon Ball Z remains cursed. Consistency for at least streaming, what is that?

The OG Saint Seiya was also missing all of its next episode previews on Netflix.

Not saying every series on Netflix doesn’t include the Next Episode Previews, but it does happen. It seems kind of similar to DBZ’s Marathon Play. |

What's this? Crunchyroll did something right for a change.
They FINALLY added the original JP version to the service and and with the Dbox footage too! Finally a watchable version of the show is readily available to the masses. Still annoyed that this wasn't there day 1, but better late than never i suppose. Edit: Boo arc stretched and missing NEP's? Last edited by Givemebackmygrain; 08-11-2022 at 09:37 AM. |

This looks promising of Crunchyroll.
![]() I was honestly tired of FUNimation's bs for all those years they kept butchering the releases and fans yet defend them (because they frankly don't have much of an option). |

If you want the Ocean dub (for reference, the one that features HFIL) then you would need to find the Rock the Dragon dvd box set. I hope that was helpful. |

I don't care about the English dub of Z one bit, but you should still know that the English dub on every single box set is not the same exact dub that aired on Toonami for up until Freeza. The only way to get that particular dub or very close to what aired on tv is to hunt down the ancient DVD single releases. The partial redub that Funimation did for the Ultimate uncut Edition DVD's in 2005 is present on the 30th anniversary set and the cropped season sets. It's not really an improvement just a different flavoring of stuff they did in 1990s and early 2000s for the first batch of episodes. Just something to be aware of. Chances are, it won't be a deal breaker to you, but it's something to be hundred percent sure of if you are going to be spending money to know what you are getting with these and it isn't exactly the same as it was on tv. It's not ideal by any means but it's a way bigger upgrade from what was offered previously on streaming services. Everything except the Boo arc is at least passable now. I just hope they use Dragon Box footage for the original Dragon Ball too at some point. The Blue Bricks footage that they are using now is just not good at all. Compared to what? Isn't Funimation streaming the same version, if you select "Japanese" as Language (not English), but with far higher bitrates?
