I don't think Oppo has ever cared if you region modded the player. Any time I sent mine in years ago, they told me just to write inside the box that it had one installed, to alert them in case they had to mess around in there.

My 93 served me well but they're worth a fortune on the secondary market so I ended up selling and buying a UBP9000 instead, plus got a few hundred left over. The Panasonic's upscaling is a little better and while finnicky on some discs, I found the 93 started glitching up on certain discs before I decided to move on.

Your fault for not sending it in to Oppo for repair.

My 93 is still running strong even thou I have not used it as much as I do own the Panasonic DP-UB-9000 (mk1).

The Oppo units I also own are 83 and 203 and they still perform flawlessly. The only maintenance I performed to all of them recently was replacing the drive loader belt (thanks Oppo for sending them to me) as they were showing signs of deformation due to aging.

For 4K Content, the Panasonic is superior. For DVDs, I prefer the 83 because does well in deinterlacing over Panasonic because of the Anchor Bay VRS VP. That said, I am looking into possibly adding the 103D to my collection since I think the BD scaling would be better because of the SI VRS VP; but I did not find any issues with the Panasonic with BD content.
