Default 7.1 system recommendations?

Hi all,

I got my wife a Roku streaming stick for Xmas, but the problem we've run into with it is since our audio system in the living room is an old Sony receiver with no HDMI, we can't output surround sound.

So I've decided I'll upgrade the system in my theater/gaming room and move my Onkyo AVX-290 system into the living room, and retire the Sony.

I've always wanted to upgrade to a 7.1 system, but I've got a limited budget. So I was wondering what 7.1 HtiB systems in the $300-$600 range y'all would recommend? I've been pleased with my Onkyo, but any brand will do.

An important spec I'll need is 3D compatibility, but I think most newer systems have it anyway.

Seems pretty decent! It stretches your budget a bit though. I have no experience with these systems, so checking around maybe good.

The other Onkyo looks killer and is what I'd try to get:

Yamaha and Sony had only 5.1.

Default 7.1 system

I personally started with a Pioneer receiver and built my room with speaker upgrades. It took a year but that was my budget limits. I now have a full 7.2 system. I recommend a Pioneer cause I'm impartial.
