Default Hypothetical Video pass-through question

If you have both a display AND a bluray player that is HDR & DolbyVision, but the receiver predates these, does the pass-through supply the entire signal or does it affect the HDR and DolvyVision?

If your receiver does not passthrough HDR/DV, then if your player has dual HDMI outputs, one for video/audio and one for audio only, then send the video/audio HDMI to the TV and the audio HDMI to the receiver. Probably time to upgrade the receiver though.
