some context would be necessary. It could mean anything from a higher end seat manufacturer, seats with more premium features or a line with premium finishes.

Are any of you leaving these connected to your networks?
I never had my RS540 connected and I didn’t follow what most did with their last line of projectors. I know the last line had several updates over their life cycle. My RS3100 was delivered with v1.2 installed about 2-3 weeks ago. |

I know one of their 1st 4K laser units was marketed for $10k more in the US compared to Europe several years ago. Stuff like that does not impress potential customers. Plus I’m still not confident that Sony has truly fixed their problematic SXRD design to not significantly degrade over time. |

The biggest thing you have to watch out for is bonded leather and vinyl in non-seat areas. That stuff will start to deteriorate within a year or two. Also another trend I hate with modern HT seats is high backs (44-46” or more) since they block the sound. Many of the seats I have seen are gigantic. I’m only 5’9. I don’t need a seat designed for Giannis or any other NBA star. I just don’t see a lot of quality options anymore for a small to midsized theater seat. |

After 6 months waiting, my NZ8 is up and dialed in. Absolutely loving what I am seeing so far. I am curious if anyone has had theirs professionally calibrated, or maybe Sapiendut can chime in on any he has done. Does running the calibration you mentioned above come close to a pro doing it? This audio guy needs some video help.

Hey,
I waited until after I put 100 hours on mine before running the calibration. The OOB (out of box) experience on these is fantastic. I was originally happy that I had meters that could be used with JVC AutoCal but decided to purchase the meters it supports anyway. I bought both the SpyderX and i1 pro 2 used for $310 total from Ebay. I also purchased a laptop for calibration last Black Friday because I don't use PCs anymore and didn't have any to use for the purpose. I got (extremely) lucky with both as they were in new shape. The i1 pro 2 is a really high quality meter used in many professional environments. It's used in printing work because it can calibrate printers too. So, how autocal compares to a professional calibration I'll probably never know. I've always liked setting up my own stuff to much to let anyone else do it. There are some exceptional professionals but if you have it done good luck keeping yourself from adjusting it ever after. ![]() |
