It looks like the days of 3D screenings are over, at least in Brisbane.
I cannot find any cinema that still shows 3D. Not for Marvel, or animated films, or Bond or Dune and probably Avatar 2 unless it somehow reignites the whole thing. JB Hi-FI seems to have removed all 3D discs without even putting them on sale. No more TVs and players either except for a few projectors, and they are all passive apparently. Dark ages indeed. ![]() |

Don't know about Brisbane but I see the Melbourne IMAX is listing 3-D films (https://imaxmelbourne.com.au/movie/s...e-ten-rings-3d)
3-D Blu-ray retail releases have stopped. The only exception is RSM (https://randomspacemedia.com/collections/3d-blu-ray). Similar situation here in NZ, very few cinemas listing 3-D releases and no new 3-D Blu-rays being released. Sad times. |

Wallis Cinemas in South Australia still keeping the 3D flag flying. Seeing The Eternals in 3D in the 13th Nov. They told me that Universal did not offer them the 3D version of No Time to Die despite it been announced that it was going to be released in standard 3D as well a 3d 4DX and Imax3d. You can see it in 3D in Amsterdam in the Netherlands. That does me no good.

It a shame, I would have ordered the Sharpe Series, the Horatio Hornblower Series, Need for Speed 3D, Trolls 3D, Secret Life of Pets 3D, Storks 3D, and Closer to the Edge 3D I tried submitting a question concerning this to their support- but it won't accept my USA formatted phone number......... Anyway, if you are in Australia or New Zealand: Select Products, select Movies and TV Shows, select Movies and TV Shows by Type, select 3D Last edited by lucasatakros; 11-24-2021 at 02:19 PM. No Dr. Strange 3D in Brisbane cinemas despite being equipped for it. I asked management. They are simply not interested. Not even for a single screening. Very frustrating. I don't want to miss out on Avatar 2 in 3D either.

Simply not interested in showing it properly? Why are they even in the business?

I have no idea how any cinema here can even survive. I have my loneliness-record in the cinema here in Brisbane, being the ONLY audience member for a showing of "Wrong Turn" back in the day. Cannot beat that record. Most films I've seen in cinamas here ahd 50 people at best. The only packed screenings i ever had in Brisbane wer "Freddy vs Jason" and two weeks ago an "Alien/Aliens" double feature. And they even showed the Special Editions. People were happy across the board, even the youger people next to me who never saw them before. It was a joy seeing them jump and laugh in the right places and nobody was messing with their phones ar talking either. That felt exactly like watching it back when it originally came out. Pure bliss! Good films stay food films.

I tried to find a screening of Doctor Strange in 3D but the only showings were at Chermside in the new 4DX experience.
Might be a fun gimmick, but I opted for the 2D showing on opening night at the local instead. On a side note, one of my favourite cinema experiences was a sold out showing of Jurassic Park 3D back in 2013 at Pacific Fair - you could tell the audience was full of fans, and no one was trying to be a comedian yelling out stupid things during the film. The atmosphere was incredible. Last edited by rightformula1; 05-14-2022 at 05:06 AM. |
