Looks like they are charging me $40 in duty and taxes for the Full Moon Evil Bong Collection!? And the ten titles were shipped out separately so I’ll probably get hit there as well. This deal is slowly becoming not such a great deal.

Is there anything I can do at this point? I’m assuming even though it was a free gift with the subscription, they put the full $180 US value on the packaging hence the taxes and $10 processing fee.

Yes, that’s exactly was I assumed happened. Not happy about that. I sent them an e-mail to see if they can refund me this money, or if I should just not accept it and they can send it with the proper value. I’ve already spent $20 more on this deal then I wanted to, not really looking to spend another $40.

And there is also a good chance you will be dinged again with the 10 blu-ray order as I am assuming they will declare those at MSRP prices as well. Keep us updated with what they say.

This deal went from great to ok to crap pretty quick.
$65 CAD for the streaming subscription
$26 CAD x2 for the shipping
$40 CAD x 2 to UPS
Total cost $197 CAD
I’m tempted to refuse to pay have them returned and ask my money back
Why couldn’t they ship these with USPS?

That is strange. My Evil Bong set shipped via USPS and my 10 blu-ray order has not shipped yet.

But if they declared the value at the correct amount it would not have mattered how they shipped them.

Agreed. If they won't refund me this fee I may just refuse the order and ask for a full refund.

PS The Bong Collection was shipped with USPS. I don't think that necessarily excludes it from fees unfortunately.

I placed an order just now for Hail Caesar ($4.99) using paypal. Shipping is 1.99 per title. Ships from a warehouse in Orillia. Looks legit.

I'm in Alberta so it is the $9.95 CP processing fee + 5% GST on the $180 USD.

BUS STOP is a very common title in the US. I'm not sure about Canada. I know they were clearing them out at Big Lots for $5.00 a few years ago.

Interesting re the US availability/prices - yeah for whatever reason a lot of movies (Marilyn Monroe ones included) have really jumped in price the last few years here in Canada.

We'll see how this all goes - I did end up getting Muppets from Space as well.

Decided to order the Director's Cut BD of Ishtar to test the waters and see how it goes; if it all works out I'll definitely order more stuff. I'd rather get the original theatrical cut but I've given up all hope of finding that (although I do have it on VHS) and the Director's Cut, while seemingly not impossible to find in the US, is currently an expensive rarity here in Canada (at least through Amazon) and so $9.99 seems quite reasonable!

The Marilyn Monroe ones would have jumped in price because they are 20th Century Fox titles that have now been sucked into the Disney vortex.
