@Metalane, perfectly and correctly stated.
I meant to ask though… some are saying the EX panels are the same that were in the 77” A80J (not the 55” or 65”). So is it still a newer panel than the 77” A80J, or are all A80K sizes just getting what the 77” A80J already had?

All of LG Display's 2022 OLED panels in all sizes are new this year. They are more energy efficient, naturally brighter, run cooler, and have better color volume. So the A80K benefits with LG's Display's new OLED module.

Our 77A80K shipment is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. I'll be opening one 77A80K faster than anyone on Xmas morning and setting it up next to Samsung's S95B, LG's C2, G2, C1, Sony's A90J, X95K, and A80J.

So, do you think it’s a stretch to think the A80K can compete with last year’s A90J? The A90J sounds like the perfect OLED, but it doesn’t come in 77”, and the 83” is out of my price bracket. So since many claimed the A80J already comes really close to the A90J, you think that the 77” A80K can close that gap even further?
I've just got the A90J 83" you mentioned. I've played around with for a few weeks now. Certainly stunning. These Oleds are all that.

Crap photo below:
I was actually playing around with headphone rig at the time. On movie sound.
Cabinet is temporary also. Just setting things up.

Funny how they always look smaller in camera than in person. And yeah, A90J is still arguably the king OLED. Glad you enjoy it. Hopefully my local Best Buy will get the 2022 models on the show floor soon.

Yeah. They do look smaller in pics. Most walk into the room and go woah!
On the shop floor 77" and 83" looked very close in size.
Most users including myself would be happy with 77"

I just went for 83" because I wanted A90.

Ha, yeah, that’s why I’m hoping the 77” A80K can come close enough to that A90J in that size and price bracket. Even with the 2022 lineup the A90J might still be the king WOLED. The 83” is way out of my budget.

@Metalane, you will love the A80J or A80K, both are excellent TVs. The new 2022 A80K has a several nice enhancements over the very excellent A80J.

Absolutely. You think we’ll have to wait until the summer for the full shootouts and comparisons to come through? Or you think by the end of this month we’ll have a good idea of where every model stands?

The delivery was delayed so we sent our company van to the carrier's depot and picked up the A80K shipment yesterday.

Our techs came back last night so I won't have any meaningful information until Monday so we can get all of the TVs lined up next to each-other and evaluated with the same content.

We're doing the unboxing, set-up and 1st impressions on Sony's new 2022 77" A80K.

Shane from SpareChange, and Brian of the WhisperStatus74 YouTube channels are in our showroom filming now.

This short video clip shows LG's 77C2 on the left and Sony's 77A80K on the right.

Sony's 77A80K is brighter than the A80J and has more depth and detail in the images. Also colors are more saturated.

These picture enhancements are moderate and can be seen when the A80J and A80K are next to each-other. Move them into different rooms and it's hard to see all of the A80K advantages as they are all only moderate upgrades, which are mostly easy to see when the TVs are side-by-side.

WhisperStatus 74 has his video on it premiering at 4:00 PM today! And were the ones you saw OOTB or already pro-calibrated?

Brian of WhisperStatus74 video is from one of our 77" A80K that we just opened for his video. So just a random 77A80K as they come out of the box.

So while we obviously didn’t get anything comparative from Brian’s video, when he briefly showed the C2 next to it you could tell the A80K was a bit brighter and showed more highlight detail. Take this observation with a grain of salt, as you can never truly judge from a camera. But in Brian’s C2 review, he claimed it reached A90J level brightness, so this may even give the G2 some competition, as that is arguably the current brightest WOLED.

Either way, the level of detail present looked top-notch in most scenes,
