Question What's Your Most Valuable $$$$ Vinyl?

I bought this back sometime in 2000. The 2-track 12" promo of Dream Traveler - "Time", which was the opening track on Paul Oakenfold's 1998 mix-cd Tranceport.

Tracking it down was a huge challenge. Finally got a hold of the record company & they only had one left! I believe it goes for around $100.00+

I have this:

Elvis Commemorative Album No.26757
RCA Special Products Stereo DPL2-0056(e) (1973)
Cover is VG - Vinyl is MINT (Yellow vinyl - 2LP set)

I haven't checked on its value lately, but I guess I should check it out.

Live - Throwing copper, usually end up in 100.00 + auctions on Ebay. One up at the moment with 6 days left and it's at 51.00 already.

Other than that probably my 2 picture disk Iron Maiden.. "Somewhere Back in Time" 60.00.

I don't know about value, but I do own some rare LPs.
  • Almost all the LPs of Demis Roussos (1970's). Does anybody on this site know him?
  • Almost all the LPs of Julio Iglesias (1970's & early 1980's)
  • 3 LPs of Jean Michel Jarre (1976, 1978, and 1981)
  • 2 LPs of Charles Aznavour (1977 and 1978)
  • LP of Dark Side of the Moon (original 1973-74) release
  • LP of The Moody Blues: On the Threshold of a Dream (1969)
  • Lp of The Moody Blues: Every Good Boy Deserves Favour (original release)
  • LP of Engelbert Humperdinck: Golden Love Songs (1977)
  • LP of Meat Loaf: Bat Out of Hell (1977)
  • LP of Elton John: Rock of the Westies (1975)
  • LP of Joan Baez/5 (original release)
  • The 2 LP Soundtrack of Saturday Night Fever (1977)
  • The LP Soundtrack of Doctor Zhivago (1966-67)

Nope, but after looking at his page on Discogs.com, he has a huge release list. About the link: I use to be a moderator on that site & it's one of the best one's around to find any kind of artist, producer, label, release, etc. I use to spend hours submitting releases on there. Browsing the site is a must if you're a music geek like myself.

I thought you were being sarcastic until I searched. I think it sold around 10 milllion copies worldwide, being a huge seller in the 90's. The vinyl must've had a low pressing run.

Demis Roussos was a singer of Greek origin. He was a big man with beard, but had such a tender and soft voice. Many people referred to him as the prophet. In the 1970's, he was one of the most successful singers in the world. He came to the U.S. a few times and appeard on a few TV shows, but never found the fame he had in Europe, Middle East, and Asia. However, he was still very well-known and popular among the immigrants in the U.S. I discovered his albums when I lived in New York many years ago and got hooked.

Absolutely, Discogs is a wonderful site and I've used it for a long time for tracking down CD's and more recently vinyl, which is the format the site is most useful for.

I have about 6 Hot Stampers (some considered White Hot) (one is a Semi Hot Stamper) from Better Records. They cost me the most. The Hot Stampers are recordings that are found to be superb sound pressings.

The Hot Stampers varied in price from $50 to $175. The most expensive of these has been:

1) Joe Jackson Jumpin' Jive for $75
2) The Who Hooligans (Double LP) for $90
3) Boston Boston for $125
4) The Moody Blues Every Good Boy Deserves Favour for $175 negotiated price from $250 because of being a good customer

Additionally, through eBay and eBay sellers, I have been able to acquire:

1) Yes Close to the Edge an early Matrix original UK pressing in EX+/NM condition for $80 this is now on its way.

2) The Moody Blues Days of Future Passed early Matrix UK pressing in M- condition for $45; but I was also able to win another copy as well in NM condition but I am not sure of how low the Matrix # for about $20. Both copies are now in transit.

I am trying to find as much as possible my own superb sounding pressings to lessen the number of purchases of the expensive Better Records Hot Stampers. This is why I have a total of 8 of the original UK pressings of 7 of the best known Moody Blues LPs (already have the one Hot Stamper of the 8th LP) as well as the early matrix original UK pressings of the 3 best Yes LPs coming from the UK in EX+ to NM or M- condition.

Rich

I'm confused, is this a joke? Or are you talking about a special edition release or vinyl? The album is all over ebay for 99 cents.

I'm not familiar with this album, but it depends on the release. When comparing on eBay or anywhere else, make sure you are comparing apples to apples. In other words...check the Catalog #, the label (and perhaps colour thereof), year of release (original or rerelease?), etc, etc, etc,....there are many factors to consider.

Cool... if I checked right the latest "Presleyana" values it around $50 as NM/M. ... I'm a Presley vinyl collector myself but I mostly collect 45rpm's, with the 'occasional' 78rpm. I have many platters that are usually valued pretty highly... for example, the complete run of Elvis' SUN singles.

My original pressing of The Mothers of Invention's "Fraek Out" is quite valuable! It's in Near Mint condition

as is BOTH "Nazz" and "Nazz II" (both being original SGC pressings and the 2nd one being on red vinyl!)

I have mucho more, but these were worth notiong.

I am not sure on the value of these but I imagine they are fairly rare, and probably pretty valuable especially in the condition these are in. They are original pressings that I inherited from my fiancee's grandmother.

Well, ever from the time I bought it in 1970, I found the original 1969 David Bowie (Later to be called "Space Oddity") a very priceless buy. Nowadays it easily sells for around 200,-- in Europe. But I'm not selling mine!

I have a good copy of Eric Clapton's Crossroads LP collection. I found it at a bookstore for $25 and I can't find it for sale anywhere. I found the CD boxset for $50 so I assume the LP set is worth even more. Needless to say, I'm not getting rid of this set.
