VHS is one of those "rabbit hole" collecting niches. Like many here, it was what I grew up with during the video store era and so there's a sense of nostalgia. I was actually kind of surprised that the format actually looked reasonably presentable on modern displays. The soft, gritty picture can actually give stuff like horror a different and unique kind of aesthetic/viewing experience as well. There are also a whole lot of open matte versions that are not on newer formats. But it's one of those things I don't really need to collect, even if there are tons of movies unavailable on dvd, blu, etc. One thing that would be a fun bonus would be vhs rips on blus as an added extra for cult blu releases; it's not a very common feature but is an interesting novelty.
