Please do not support Cdiscount.com. They have been sending me spam mail for the past couple of years. They send me 2-5 emails every single day. I've unsubscribed, contacted them by email, and I still get their spam mail. Yes, you can filter your incoming mail but it is still very frustrating when you can see they'll never stop. Just google them and you'll see what kind of a company they really are. AVOID.

Interesting read(Google translate):

Quote:
When he unsubscribes Cdiscount mailing lists in 2006, Mr. F. had no idea he would continue to receive emails advertising for another two years. As Mr. F. they are ten consumers have complained to the online auction site with the Commission Nationale Informatique and Freedoms (CNIL) for failure to comply with the law of opposition. Calls on lines overtaxed, registered letters, nothing worked. Their mailboxes are engorgeaient incentives to purchase they would not. Section 38 of the Data Protection Act of 6 January 1978, however, gives the user the right to deny that the data be used for commercial purposes or be subject to any treatment site. Still, "we have a lot of complaints of lack of considered opposition or violation of privacy," says Jeanne Bossi, Assistant Director of controls to the CNIL.

It took several months of negotiations in e-tailer to listen to reason and delete those who asked for his records. We now know why: November 6, 2008 the CNIL was ordered to pay 30,000 euros in fines. Cdiscount has not appealed. Deliberation is public yesterday on the websites of the Commission and Légifrance.

"Initially we had eleven complaints registered, but many more are posted in our box reporting," says the deputy director. Each year, nearly 4,000 complaints of this type comes before him and, "since everyone uses the internet, this situation can only grow. "Too loose or too efficient, the spam filter would not be the solution to hype sales sites to sell or solicitation:" The stress on sexual matters, often sent from abroad, are logically considered spam by the filter. But in the case of retail sites based in France, if you raise the level of control / anti-spam filtering, so you block the ads intrusive but you also risk of losing information and emails are not spam . "Said Jeanne Bossi. By mail or link, the only way to escape the adverts which you do not want to hear about, is the same: to unsubscribe. It is also necessary that the sender takes into account.

After an initial series of fruitless exchanges with Cdiscount, the CNIL has responded May 20, 2008 and sent a formal notice. "Not having been given to the appropriate person" in the words of the discount store, it will remain a dead letter. "The late responses, and actions brought by Cdiscount were insufficient, said Jeanne Bossi. They never bothered to configure their device, and have not sufficiently taken into account the views of opposition. The site has waited the CNIL's ultimatum to act. "

Complaints against Cdiscount, Jeanne Bossi is still receiving. Only recourse of Internet users after consumer groups, the Assistant Director controls remain lucid about the effectiveness of its action: "We have regular complaints, but we give ourselves a little time to learn what you do. Now that the sanction becomes public, Cdiscount should react. "

Sorry for the bump.

I'm looking for a couple of German releases, and dvd-shoppen has them in stock. But I've never heard of the site, and I'm having difficulties finding a review for them.

Anyone have any recent experiences, and are they good with US customers?

Thanks!

Not sure how helpful it is, but I preordered the German release of A Hidden Life from them last year, their price was good and international shipping rates were as well. International mail out of Sweden got affected by COVID and their CS contacted me and offered a bunch of solutions, including holding onto the package at their office until they were out of lockdown and the shipping situation improved. I eventually cancelled the order, and they refunded me quickly, no problems.

Maybe this thread should be moved to dead deals, like OP's list of American webshops?

At any rate, here's the original list, minus dead links and stores that no longer sell Blu-rays. No idea which are worthwhile at all, let alone which ship outside their respective countries, except for JB Hi-Fi and Zavvi, with which I have had good experiences.
