I didn't see it mentioned yet in the thread, but Phil and his Genesis pals are soon to be inducted to the R&R Hall Of Fame.

PG won't be attending though as he's gearing up for his tour.

Phil's awesome drumming is usually clouded by his sappy songwriting. He truly is one of the best drummers ever.

If you think his drumming in Genesis is great (which it is), take a listen to some of his drumming from his fusion band Brand X. In particular, I recommend the album Unorthodox Behaviour - the stuff he does one the kit leaves me speechless.

Speaking of Genesis... has anyone seen the When In Rome DVD?

I don't think there are any plans to release it on BD, but I've seen it aired on Palladia.

I was impressed with the size of the crowd they were able to draw. But then again, people in Europe can be a bit odd.

Half a million people, at Circus Maximus, and that was a free concert. It was payback because Italy was the country that really supported Genesis in the early days when they were struggling.

The Palladia show leaves out some really good songs, so I recommend the DVD (which is only available at Wal-Mart.com). I keep checking to see if there is any news of a Blu-ray but find nothing. My guess is there is a 50/50 chance...they have really been releasing lots of old video and concert CDs...so it would make sense for a double-dip of When in Rome on Blu

Somehow during the last Genesis tour I dislocated some vertebrae in my upper neck and that affected my hands. After a successful operation on my neck, my hands still can't function normally. I'm surprised I hadn't come across this before. How crappy.

Like Elton John, Phil was great until he sold out to Disney.....I prefer the PG era but Phil did not ruin Genesis.

Talented guy for sure. Later found out he's done pretty much all the studio drumming on the Genesis and solo releases after assuming more of a frontman/lead singer role in the late 70s. Love all eras of Genesis and some of his solo work (a little too ballad heavy for me). Still a great voice, though he's more or less retired now from what I understand (although everyone seems to break their farewell vows).
