Default Top 5 bands from any country other than the US

John72953 already has a thread for top 5 bands from the US so that is the reason I'm leaving out American bands. All genres are accepted, don't let my taste in hard rock/metal prevent you from posting. This thread is for everyone to voice their opinions on top bands from other countries which some people may not have heard before & may want to look into. I'm always searching for new bands every day.

Canada
1)Into Eternity
2)Rush
3)Annihilator
4)Augury
5)The Tea Party

Finland
1)Sentenced
2)Amorphis
3)Lullacry
4)Children Of Bodom
5)Eternal Tears Of Sorrow

Personal faves of mine are:
1.) Therion (Sweden)
2.) Tristania (Norway)
3.) Lacuna Coil (Italy)
4.) Sirenia (Norway)
5.) Kosheen (England)

Runner-ups are:
[Show spoiler]The 5, 6, 7, 8s (Japan)
AC/DC (Australia)
After Forever (Netherlands)
Apocalyptica (Finland)
Def Leppard (England)
Epica (Netherlands)
Led Zeppelin (England)
Kasabian (England)
Mezarkabul (aka Pentagram, Turkey)
Nightwish / Tarja (Finland)
Novembre (Italy)
Opeth (Sweden)
Orange Range (Japan)
The Pillows (Japan)
Rammstein (Germany)
The Rolling Stones (England)
Star One (Netherlands)
Xandria (Germany)

Enjoy but need to find more of:
[Show spoiler]2raumwohnung (Germany)
Ayreon (Netherlands)
The Chemical Brothers (England)
Daft Punk (France)
Die Fantastischen Vier (Germany)
Die Toten Hosen (Germany)
Eisbrecher (Germany)
Leftfield (England)
Little Dragon (Sweden)
The Prodigy (England)
Royksopp (Norway)
Satyricon (Norway)
Siouxsie and the Banshees (England)

So if I do this the way everybody else is, it'd look like:

2.) Def Leppard
3.) Led Zeppelin
4.) Kasabian
5.) The Rolling Stones

Germany
1.) Rammstein
2.) Tokio Hotel
3.) Xandria
4.) Die Fantastichen Vier
5.) 2raumwohnung

Japan
1.) The Pillows
2.) The 5, 6, 7, 8s
3.) Orange Range
4.) Yuki Kajiura (not listed above, not sure if she really counts as a band )

Netherlands
1.) Epica
2.) After Forever
3.) Star One
4.) Ayreon

Norway
1.) Tristania
2.) Sirenia
3.) Royksopp
4.) Satyricon

Sweden
1.) Therion

I think that covers it for me.

Canada:

Matthew Good
Three Days Grace
Matt Mays and El Torpedo

There are other bands that have been or are popular like Theory Of A Deadman, Nickelback, The Tragically Hip but they're not to my taste and I can't include them.

Good call on Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds from Australia!

I've always felt, however, that, given the size of its population, Canada has a lot of talented artists. To name a few:

Neil Young
The Tragically Hip
April Wine
Leonard Cohen
Big Sugar
Rush
The Guess Who

Not to mention other big selling artists (who are not necessarily my cup of tea) such as, Anne Murray, Paul Anka, Avril Lavigne, etc.

Three lists for Canada and not one band I would even consider listing. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, everybody has unique tastes. I don't think there has ever been a better time for Canadian bands. Three of my top five are relevant and at the top of their games.

My top 5

Arcade Fire - I would go as far to say that this is my favorite band right now
The Band
The New Pornographers
Cowboy Junkies
F@@ked Up

5 Runners up

Blue Rodeo
Death From Above
Skinny Puppy
The Joel Plaskett Emergency
Godspeed You! Black Emperor

5 known more as solo artists

Leonard Cohen
Neil Young
Feist
Drake
Gordon Lightfoot

And 5 Canadian acts I can't stand

Nickelback
Theory of a Deadman
Shania Twain
Alanis Morrisette
Celine Dion

Yeah, I REALLY struggled with this one. Especially since I left Led Zepplin off but I honestly have just never gotten into their music like so many others have.

Same here, I really debated between Led Zep and the Stones, but the Stones are just too big to pass up for me. My biggest heartbrake is leaving out Purple which I prefer over the Stones easily but still had to go with them, can't pass up living legends.

My Top 5 From England:

1. Judas Priest
2. Black Sabbath (prefer Dio on vocals)
3. Led Zeppelin
4. Queen
5. The Rolling Stones

**Note-a Great Britain list would have Nazareth (Scotland) in 3rd and the Stones off of the list.**
