England

Any list of 5 you make from England is going to be leaving off icons. You could eliminate your first 10 choices and still have a respectable list. I have to go strictly on personal taste.

The Clash
The Rolling Stones
The Police
Iron Maiden
New Order

Solid list, I would swap out Rory Gallagher for Stiff Little Fingers to make my list.

Agreed as they are living legends and the sound of Ireland for many, I just try to keep my choices in rock. But they should of been in the honorable metnions, need to fix that

Fixed for now

Edit, that soundtrack is my favorite soundtrack of them all, gets played on a regular basis. But that reminds me I'm now in need to watch the movie again, a BD would be awesome if the source material is adequate.

I've noticed several people have posted bands but haven't stated their country of origin. Even if they are a very popular band/artist please state the country. For those few people that haven't I hope that if they revisit this thread they will go back to edit their post.

My top 5 british bands

Pink Floyd (I'm more a Gilmour Floyd fan than Waters, even though I give him all the credit deserved)
Queen (The only band I saw in concert as much as Rush)
The Beatles (I don't think that there's one song from The Beatles I don't like)
Porcupine Tree (And all things S. Wilson)
Genesis (Gabriel era but including A Trick of the Tail)

Edit: just reread the thread and I had already posted, seems they were the right choices, same bands, slightly different order though)

1 Led Zeppelin: not a weak link in this band. Timeless music. (England)
2 The Who (England)
3 Queen (England)
4 U2 (Ireland)
5 Genesis (England)
IMHO, it was a close call between some others, but these I listed were all great together as bandmates.

I was a big Silverchair fan in the mid-late 90's with their first 3 albums.
