Default Great guitarists that rarely (if ever) make it on a list!

This thread is about the unsung guitarists in the world of music...the guys and gals we never seem to mention when discussing someone's guitar ability or virtuosity.

I'll start with 3 of them....

1. Jose Feliciano
2. Liona Boyd
3. Bruce Cockburn

What are your choices?

Prince, or whatever he's calling himself these days.

Amazing guitar player, but his 'oddness' makes people dismiss him as a Joke.

I'm not a huge fan of his music, but I think the guy can tear it up.

Great idea for a thread John

Some of my favorites rarely on lists or not as high as they deserve IMO

Roy Buchanan
Lindsey Buckingham
Vernon Reid
Rory Gallagher
Frank Zappa (Ok he makes lists but never as high as he deserves me thinks)

Great call, I don't know how I forgot him, it's almost criminal how he's excluded from top spots when this guy influenced many great guitarists of the modern era of rock, fusion and even prog.

Funny that you mention him but not Tommy Shaw, James was always the less flashy of both. But in both cases they don't get on lists and should, where is open to debate

Ladies and gents, allow me to introduce to you the strongest right hand in all of rock 'n' roll......he NEVER gets any recognition, and he is the glue that holds his band together.

Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys, master of riffs )
Dallas Green (Alexisonfire, City & Colour)
Noel Gallagher (Oasis/Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds)
John Mayer (Easily one of the best guitarists/song-writings of this generation of music)
John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers)

New generation guys that don't get the recognition they deserve in my book
