I was hoping it would have been released as a companion piece to the Achtung Baby remaster last year.

I doubt there are any ZOO TV or POPMART concerts filmed in a format that would necessitate high definition video (though the audio could be sweet). I am quite surprised there hasn't been a U2 3D release, though...

I don't think their will be a new album in 2013. I would love ZooTV and PopMart on BD. And especially U2 3D.

Huge U2 fan - soundtrack of my teenage years in the mid 80's. Really became a fan with the album War. Favorite has to be the live LP Wide Awake in America. So many good songs.

Here is a great website where you can get tons of bootlegs, live concert tracks, etc.

http://u2start.com/

The site has been around since 2006 - great resource.

Great site, I've had the chance to listen to 100s of live recordings over the years. 8/28/93 from Dublin is the band at their apex in my opinion, an absolutely incredible performance.

"The Edge revealed U2s new album is well on its way. He said: Were looking at having it out around the end of the summer."

Excellent news! Here's hoping for an arena tour in the same vain as the ATYCLB and HTDAAB eras.

In fairness, how long was Songs Of Ascent promised and we've seen what happened there

What more could you possibly want? the AB reissue was about the most uber-one I've ever seen besides maybe the recent Pumpkins reissue for Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness

yes it was uber one and uber expensive. not like nice affordable joshua tree and unforgettable fire boxes that contained excellent stuff - but nothing too over blown and useless like fly sunglasses.

got my drift now ?

ps. and that double disc achtung baby included nothing new to me ...

but the album wasn't remastered like Boy, October, War, The Unforgettable Fire, and The Joshua Tree were, it was just repackaged. Too many remixes and none or few live tracks, also very high in price.

Rumors have it that the new album is being mixed now in NYC at Electric Lady Studios and that it will come out this fall, with a tour starting next year.

For me, "The Joshua Tree" is beyond Great and only one of 5 albums I own, where every cut is Great. There isn't one filler or B-sider on this record. Here's my fave from the Joshua Tree:

Default The U2 thread

It looks like the new album will be announced via a commercial...IN THE SUPER BOWL!!

http://www.atu2.com/news/confirmed-u...ommercial.html

The album is supposed to sound different from anything they've done before.
