Default Acurus Announces 20-Channel Version of the ACT 4 Processor

Indy Audio Labs has announced that, in April 2018, a new version of the Acurus ACT 4 AV processor will be introduced that will support up to 20 channels. The box will natively decode Dolby Atmos 9.1.6 and have support for up to four additional configurable channels. The new ACT 4 will also support the upcoming Acurus proprietary automatic room correction tool, called ASPEQT (Acurus Speaker Parameter EQ Tool). A hardware/firmware update will be made available for owners of current ACT 4 models.

From Indy Audio Labs

Indy Audio Labs, LLC has announced newly expanded Acurus ACT 4 audio processing capabilities. As of Q2 2018, the Acurus ACT 4 will natively decode Dolby Atmos 9.1.6 plus support up to four additional configurable channel outputs, for maximum layouts of 9.5.6 or 9.7.4, all with the attention to audio detail Acurus products are known for worldwide.

Available in April 2018 as a hardware/firmware upgrade kit to existing ACT 4 units in the field, all new ACT 4s will be manufactured with the new expanded channel capability built in right from the factory in Jeffersonville, Indiana, USA.

Additional web-control features and system upgrades to support the upcoming Acurus proprietary automatic room correction tool, ASPEQT (Acurus Speaker Parameter EQ Tool), are included in the new system, as well. ASPEQT is scheduled for release in Spring 2018 and will dramatically simplify the process of immersive processor system EQ and room tuning.

As a result, Acurus customers will enjoy a wide spectrum of new advanced capabilities and immersive channel layout configurations in a USA-made processor with a sub-$10k price. Install professionals will value the versatility and easy setup of the ACT 4, along with its wide stable of support for control solutions from the likes of Savant, C4, Crestron, Elan, Kramer and URC. Backing up its reputation for rock-solid engineering and reliability, the product boasts a full five-year manufacturer's warranty.

According to Indy Audio Labs Co-founder and CTO Ted Moore, "Acurus continues to remain first to market with the latest immersive cinema processor technology. We were the first sub-$10k wholly designed American immersive audio processor, first with both 7.3.6 Dolby Atmos and 7.1.4 DTS:X native decoding, first with full support of HDMI 2.0b with HDCP 2.2, and now first to expand into the 20-channel realm with 15.1 Dolby Atmos native decoding plus four extra configurable channels. Couple this layout expansion with the ACT 4's superb implementation of the latest Dolby and DTS upmixers, and you have a listening experience that's as phenomenal as it is flexible. You just won't find any other immersive processor with the features, capabilities, and installer-friendly focus that the ACT 4 has to offer."

Well, to be totally accurate, it's still 16 (15.1) channel Atmos processing with extra bass management derived sub outputs. It does not render out a full 20 speakers via object panning lookup tables as is implied.
